• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Gibson Custom Shop = anonymous consumers x special consumers.

Why did you buy the guitar if it had “terrible” factory defects?

    DIY finish checking

    So you’re to blame! :)

    Gibson Garage London opening videos.

And it’s the same rocker in case of ML since they follow a formula. The guy that did 1000 gigs with every ML heavy aged wore all of them at the same height, same belt, same jewellery every night, same playing style and mishaps, plus plenty of outdoor events to age both the front and back analyne...

Custom Shop Tour from 2012 - remembering Ernie King, RIP

Very sad and that video was a great tribute. I had no idea and then hit with that news at the end. RIP.

Tom Murphey aged Gibson LP whats the diff?

The COA will explicitly say if it’s Tom Murphy painted or aged, you don’t need to decipher it. If it doesnt, it isn’t. Personally I wouldn’t pay a dollar more for Murphy painted. I refuse to believe that he is the only guy on the planet who can properly shoot a burst, which is what that is...

    90s "good wood " era vs post 2013 era ....... ?

Slightly off topic but at least my local dealer in 2001 was heavily hyping his “last” custom shop historics and claiming Gibson was going to discontinue them due lack of suitable (good?) wood… mind you he wasn’t actually Gibson dealer…

Current Historic Specs Getting Less Accurate?

OP I think you will get a better response to this specific question if you post or reference some photos. I know you said TRC might be difficult to photograph but the others should be possible. I mentioned above that I compared the headstock (logo) on my 2020 R0 and a high resolution photo on...

Current Historic Specs Getting Less Accurate?

Just compared the headstock on a 2024 R9 that is on Reverb with high quality photos, to my 2021 and I see zero difference at all. Same for TRC. OP please post pictures.

    Better tone with un-notched saddles?

My new KMS ABR was unnotched and I just left it like that, but E and B strings kept falling off when bending (it’s top wrapped though…). Ended up having to do some rudimentary notches.

60's Reissue Burstbuckers swap for Doyle Coils?

Sorry I don’t have any burstbuckers but from my experience I would describe the Doyle’s coils as having a very “dry” sound, almost grainy, strained. I love how the bridge evokes ‘70s style rock probably as it’s so treblely it makes my LP sound like an SG. Much more so than other PAF style...

    Area 59' Abr1

Callaham longer available. Same as Cooper. FU unobtainium at least to me (plus for how much they want, vintagish options seem more interesting to me). That’s the problem with these comparisons. Already out of date.

    Area 59' Abr1

I found the stock ABR-1s on my 2020 and 2021 reissues sounded harsh and had a dull attack. First I got the Faber with brass saddles and that cleared up the harshness, but still has a slighly softer attack than I wanted. The KMS is also sweet but has a bit stronger attack. Maybe it’s in my head...
