The original run G12 Vintages with really light doping have replaced the 8 ohm Mesa V30's as my favorite V30 type. I do not like the later year made in China ones at all, but an early Mesa or Marshall V30 is one hell of a great sounding speaker.Got a Scumback M75 and one of the original G12 Vintage Speakers in the Marshall 1936V currently.
A nice Birch plywood cab. I may replace the other stock speaker with another TBD speaker.
I still prefer Vintage and Heratige G12H30 55hz and 75hz speakers by a good bit to them, as well as vintage G12H100's, and vintage G1265's both the 55hz and 75hz models, but the old G12 Vintage I had for a while really opened me up to some V30 love where I used to be more love/hate with them. Like the Mesa version I love clean, but oddly do not care for them much at high volumes with heavier gain. But anything clean to vintage rock crunch I dig the hell out of them. The old G12 Vintages however I love at pretty much any gain level.
