Hey guys!

I recently bought a 1991 Standard which has some aftermarket parts that I would like to bring back to original.

I am having a very hard time determining the exact strap buttons used in the early 90s. There are plenty from the 50s to the 70s and 2000s out there. But I can't find the ones used in 91.

Does anybody know exactly which ones they are and I where I can buy them?

Thanks!

Strap buttons apart from the posi-lock stuff they did for a few years didn't change much up to 2000. For the most part they have had the same shape and were made out of aluminum or brass. Up to the 60's they had a deeper beveled hole in the center. Not sure exactly when they started to use brass, but it most likely began with gold parts as it is much easier to plate. I think a 91 would be chrome plated brass. Probably a #6 screw used for the top and a #8 for the bottom. I wouldn't worry about having them perfectly correct as they really aren't the best button as far as security is concerned as they are very small. I would use larger strap buttons or locking ones. If you want to have a set for just for the heck of it any old chrome plated brass or polished aluminum would do.
