• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Anyone know what this finish is called? It's beautiful pics attached.

I have the fever for this Les Paul finish, I can't stop looking at it! Does anyone know what it's called so I can try to track one down or have a similar guitar custom made one day?
Thank you in advance.

Sunburst :hmm

Maybe so, but I didn't think it would be that simple though haha. Maybe they just did a flame enhancement and it's the perfect amount of red in the sunburst for my tastes? I know they all have special names, like Murphy's flying circuit burst.

It looks like a 1960 Tomato Soup 'Burst like the Joe Walsh burst.

It has an early-mid '90s R9 vibe to me.

The early R9s had what are known as "enhanced" tops, which come from a process somewhat similar to what PRS uses.

I did a lot of looking last night and the closest I could find were the Murphy Sunburst.
Thanks for the reply brandtkronholm I didn't know Gibson did that, that helps! The flame on it definitely looked enhanced. That last pic you posted looks so close it could even be the same guitar!

I'm thinking that's maybe an Iced Tea burst.
Similar to my 2002 Standard, to the left in my avatar.
Edit: Really liking how easy it is to upload pcs - don't have to host third party anymore.
