Apropos of nothing: I'd really like to see a version of this siggy LP specs but in a LP Special, with binding added.

How about this instead?

Recursive, much? 😁

I am not sure even what you mean ... since I was already commenting on his model, but additionally opined I want to see a LP Special version of it. That is, no maple cap with these P-90 DCs, plus binding.

You can't always get what you want, someone once said. Hence, "instead".

Yes, recursive.

Recursion occurs when the definition of a concept or process depends on a simpler or previous version of itself. Recursion is used in a variety of disciplines ranging from linguistics to logic. The most common application of recursion is in mathematics and computer science, where a function being defined is applied within its own definition. While this apparently defines an infinite number of instances, it is often done in such a way that no infinite loop or infinite chain of references can occur.

Soooooo, back to rock and roll guitar land, Warren hits the nail on the head regarding using standard tuning and trying to mimic open E with slide. He says "you dance around the neck more" with standard tuning. You don't have time to linger on that note, like a long southern drawl, as you would with open E. It gets a little more choppy. That said, open E puts a lot of tension on those 3 strings, makes me nervous😓

Thanks for that. I've been working back and forth between concert tuning and open E for years and it sort of confirms what I've experienced.
