I've seen differing readings on the RS Fralins, I was just curious to see what you guys have. Mine measure 7.9 neck and 8.8 bridge. Not that I'm complaining, they sound great, but I thought they were supposed to be around 7.5/8.3 or so. And I've read that soem guys here have something different yet.
So what do you guys' read? I've talking about the 1st series, but I'd be interested in the new versions too.

I have a digital ohm meter so how do I do It? I have the newest r/s fralins, now I'm wondering. The tech that did the work took a reading but I forgot?

Set your meter to resistance and then one lead to the braid (ground) and the other to the hot.

Well you have to unsolder them to get an accurate reading. To get a ballpark, you can plug a cable into your guitar, switch to whichever pickup you want to check and put one of your meter leads on the tip and the other on the sleeve of the unplugged end of your cable. But it won't be quite as accurate.

Did you measure through the output jack with a cable? That'll read a little on the low side that way.

Every set is going to read different and when it comes down to it the K rating means almost nothing. Every one of the Fralins gets the same number of turns with the same wire, but because of the thickness of the enamel on the wire, the tension and the hand winding the over all rating will very from pickup to pickup just as real PAFs did and as every hand made pickup does. On the True 60s it's even more different because of the aging. no matter what they read all of them I have tried and installed have been the most consistent pickups I've tried as far as sound goes. I just don't believe you can hear the difference between a 7.5k pickup and a 7.7k pickup if they are made by the same winder:paf .

FWIW, I have a set of the original RS/Fralins that I got about a month ago and they read: 8.8k bridge and 7.8k neck. I'm happy with them. :)

Just curious. I love my set too. I can't go by my guitar without wanting to plug it in.
