• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

So... Eliot Spitzer

I don't quite know why I'm even bringing this sordid mess up, "Happy Valentine's Day to Me" aspect and all. I'm sure there'll be lots of glee in some circles on Wall Street, and there's certainly nothing quite like a sanctimonious crusader brought low... of any stripe. :ganz

I'm all for nailing this guy, actually. What a maroon!
But I wonder, a little, whether this is exactly the sort of payback the Bush/Gonzalez/Rove crew were looking for from their federal prosecutor appointees?

Nah.... couldn't be!

So...you're suggesting that Spitzer's price negotiation with a New York hooker was a Republican plot to discredit him?

No. I'm just wondering which came first, the chicken or the egg, the investigation or the object of the investigation.

I've lived in NY all my life and I have seen many politicans come and go in this state, and in many ways I try not to get into conversations about politics, but this pompas-ass deserves what he gets. The sad thing is he dragged his wife and kids down with him. He is a hippocrate like many of our politicans who got caught with their hands in the cookie jar, so to speak. I never really liked him but when he wanted to give drivers licenses to undocumented immigrants in NY I knew he had to go...

Honest. I completely agree he's getting what he deserves here. Or will.

It's just that when relentless ego and blind ambition is an absolute requirement of achieving high office in this land, it is a wonder that we don't all get far more of this sort of hypocrisy.

I think it's hillarious & with his Elliot Ness-like background, I wonder if the Gambino thing came back to haunt the hypocritical a-hole..

I'm reminded of Summer 1966 (I think), When then House Ways and Means Committee Chair Wilbur Mills (a bible-thumpin', law & order 'Dixiecrat') was caught cavorting naked with Fanny Flagg (a many-times convicted prostitute who also worked in an exotic dance club), in the Capitol reflecting pool in the wee hours, some wag (It may have been Wm. F. Buckley) circulated this ditty:

"...She was only a stripper from the Silver Slipper, but she had her Ways and Means..."

The bigger they are...

Ok...some details have now been released. 'Seems the charges came from an IRS investigation of the prostitution ring, not the US Attorney's Office (Spitzer's old job).

The IRS hates everybody, and are rarely subject to political influence.

what an idiot our governor is. i wouldnt have wanted to be in his shoes last night explaining to his wife.
to be safe he should have hired these girls as interns, and had sex in a hallway or empty office and it would be ok. or maybe an accident involving a bridge.
clearly, we don't have much for the fbi to do.

Man, his wife looked decidedly displeased in that press conference. I'll bet he got no free nookey that night!

Is this another thread on tumescence?

I had to look that one up Tom. I'm just saying, you know, 4300 dollar hookers and 80 thousand dollar guitars, I really have to wonder, what is this administration up to???
