• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Finally!!!

Congrats.

Is there a sonic difference between the TQ and Oxblood?

.

You know, I have never really sat down and compared, as usually I end playing a guitar for awhile, then rotate, as they all make me play a bit differently, based on feel & tone.

But right off the bat, they have different Burstbucker's in them, so yes, there's that difference....I'll have to find time to really invetigate that...

I've already ordered some Duncan pickup covers to get rid of the pink ones....

You can tell I'm looking forward to getting her...

The wait for the brown truck starts.

Congrats, Mark!

Excuse my ignorance, but what is an R4TQ?

Thanks,
John

No problems...that's the R4 w/ Humbuckers, like an Oxblood, but GoldTop...there is a paper called The ToneQuest report that did a story on these....

I'm sure other can reall fill in the blanks...

Congrats! Thats one of the coolest Custom Shop guitars ever IMO!

As I posted somewhere some months before...they're still available NEW!
There's an active SKU - just let your dealers ask for it... they should be able to order them :)
I forgot the SKU BTW but its not TQ or something like that...I guess it was called R7 Wraptail.
The new ones have a R7 serial number.

I played a Murphy Aged Gold Top R4 with Humbuckerslast year -it was just a mistake by the factory! I'm not kiddin!

I just picked up a lefty R4 goldtop after years of searching. Gibson discontinued the SKU for lefty R4 goldtops and customs about 2 years ago so it's been a quest for a used one.

You're going to love it. Mine has Lollars installed and they rip.

First of all, thanks! I like the big necks...

I play rock music...some old sounds, some newer...and I have a few different bands I play in....

So, sometimes it's a Suhr modded Marshall JMP50 & Vox AC-30, or a Custom Audio OD-50. Although sometimes I use a Hiwatt - DR504-OL.

Either way, a nice tube amp, and I'm good.

Thanks for asking,

Mark

My first gig will be the day after I get her...break her in proper!!!

The wait continues.....
