• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Is the 2009 R9 going to be as close as one can get to the 1959 Les Paul? Think of how many Les Pauls have been bought trying to get one as close to a "59 as possible. It is a "Golden Goose" for Gibson. Will the 50th aniversary be the one to have if one doesn't have an actual '59 Les Paul? Personally, I'll be stuck with my old R9, it's not too bad. Is 2009 the year the "Golden Goose" gets the axe? Will there be a reissue in the future that is even closer to the elusive '59, and the '09 R9 will be just the closest for now? What say you?

Why don't you read the other 10 page thread and see what all the changes are?

Because the other 10 page thread turned into a piss match and who wants to sort through all of those egos just to get to the facts? Might be nice just of have a thread that talks about the R9 and not about Todd's spelling and foul language.

Here's your answer:

Doesn't look like any 59 Burst I have ever seen. Better hold on to the "Old R9" that you have!

I have read both of the previous threads. I know the '09 R9 will be a righteous guitar. I will hold on to my old R9. Thank you pinefd for the info on the new Les Paul. I was just wondering.... Now I feel like the guy who into sadism, necrophilia and beastiality and gave it all up because he was tired of beating a dead horse! Play on Bros.

No prob guys. By the sounds of your posts it looked like you had missed that thread...and with all the junk going on in the other thread (which is now missing), it's easy to understand.

:rofl :rofl I foretold all this many years ago here on this forum.. It was totally obvious, even way back then.
How many ways can you serve up an egg? There will always be a nearer correct specs than last re-issue. That's how you get people to buy things.. Henry aint stupid. In fact I applaud the man:3zone . He's doing exactly what I would have done.
Keep the suckers wanting..

Lucky for me I seemed to have hit it right first time around.. 2003 R0...

I didn't want to start a new thread; so, I'll just ask it here.
Any idea when the '09s will become available?
