• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Oh dear, you mean Charles Commelli? Yep, he ran the studios when I was here in the eighties....I left in 88' and came back to Capitol in 1998. Lee S. sounds familiar but I can't place the face... I know of the 2 Pete's at Abbey, but I never met them...
I might know you if you'd like to PM your name to me...
Best,
Bob

Yep, I forgot how to spell CC's name!
I can't PM you here.
If you fancy taking a look at The Gear Page (like this but more broad spread of subjects especially amps) we can hook up over there.
I left EMI in 1997.......

Best, Pete.

It was a great day..
I was just a bit disappointed at the time that I never got the chance to get a picture of him.
Maybe next album...:)

Might this be Pete Thorn?
If it is, awesome playing, love your style.:salude

Cool story about Clapton too. I think I would have been sitting at the same table the next day, guitar and amp in hand.

Cool story, I must admit I was disappointed not to hear that he tried your LP/Marshall setup!!:hmm :hmm
I read that they tried Marshall stacks when the Cream reunion took place, but everyone stuck with what they normally use.
Wouldn't it be great to have a proper "Bluesbreaker" EC approved Marshall reissue, to early 'Beano" specs.
It reminded me of when I met Jol Danzig of Hamer fame and I ended up discussing Steve Stevens with him, rather than he being one of the first in the know to disassemble Greeny and discover the neck pickup secrets!!

Holy crap, what an amazing story! If it were me, I would've made a total ass of myself (unintentionally, of course), but I would've pulled my les paul out from under the table and asked him to sign it for my kids or something like that.

All the stuff about the amps is interesting, but what I really want to know is if he is more of a fan of the Greg or Sam era Wiggles. Anybody know?

I can't stand those sparkling wiggles!

I got a 19 month old and I'm keeping her far far away from that.
But, she can already say "Guitar"!!

You know, the funny thing is, there was another guy sitting in the booth with us(I can't remember his name) and he asked us if we would go to a Wiggles concert with our kids and Eric said,(before I could) "Heck yeah, I would go"!
Now how funny would that be, seeing Eric in the front row grooving on the Wiggles...

The story about EC's Marshall combo is interesting, but it's also not true. I believe that EC got it wrong, because the amp he left in Greece wasn't a combo, but a 2-piece Marshall (amp and separate speaker cabinet). Eric bought the combo as a result of leaving his 2-piece Marshall in Greece, when he returned to England in October or November 1965. The combo amp was used to record the "Blues Breakers" album in March 1966. Before Greece, Clapton used a 2-piece amp. After Greece, he used a combo.

I agree Eric's account was incorrect. When I first asked him he said he couldn't remember. I threw out the Greece reference to him and then he said,"Yes! I left it in Greece."
Twas a long time ago...
