Just finished building this little guy. I decided not to attempt covering it and just finished it with a dark mahogany color. Yeah, I know - it's not a Tweed Deluxe if there's no tweed on it. The only problem with it was the typical one for this amp - the volume is pretty much all on at 3. So, I wired in Dana Hall's VVR to power scale it (it's in the On-Off switch hole). That little circuit is a beautiful thing - cranked tones at bedroom volume if you want but the main purpose was to throttle back the volume just a little when playing with the band. Other than that, the circuit is stock 5E3.
I had typical grounding hum to begin with but fixed it with a dual-star grounding design - it's dead quiet now. I haven't decided whether or not to change the coupling caps to make it more suitable for the humbuckers in my LP - I've got to work with it for awhile.
