• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Is it Brazilian?

I know some 2003 R9s came with Brazilian fingerboards. How can I tell? The particular guitar in question is an R9 from 2003 #9 31487.

a six-digit sn ?

That is not unusual. In the numbering system, the last three,
(or four) digits are the number of guitars made. At 1000 guitars
and over, it drives the serial number to six digits. That was the
1487th Historic '59 made in 2003.
Only the first 674 got Brazilian Fretboards. Minus the exceptions,
as listed.
That makes the actual number of Brazilian R9's...664.
As you can see, there were more 2003 R9's made without
Brazilian, than with.
