• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

hi!

i think there were the twin reverb II and a matching head - and that´s about it.
later on there were the "red knob" twin and showman.

not sure, though, how any of them compare to the "twin amp" in terms of tone.

sorry, i don´t know enough about rivera´s current offerings to recommend anything...

cheers - 68.

Good suggestions but, I don't think any of the II series or red knobs are that similar to the more recent Twins that had a clean (vintage voiced) and gain channel.

To my ears - the Rivera series amps, which are awesome, have a slight "Boogie/Mesa Mk series" flavor to the gain channel. My Dad has the Concert II head and it's voiced that way - to my ears.

The red knob (I've got a Dual Showman head) have a classic Fender clean with a more hot rodded Fender gain channel with some Marshall touches in the voice.

The more recent Twins that have the gain channel have a different tone.

That said - how that compares to the Rivera brand of amps - I can't say. Rivera is kind of know for their classic Fender channel and a more hot-rodded Marshall like gain channel.

Hope it helps.

Thanks goldtop & sickboy, there 's couple of twins around my area for a nice buck ,but don't know how old they are . Maybe it might be better to just buy new. One store has a clubster 112 & chubster 112 , the tone is nice but the fullness is nothing like the twin I tried. I whish they had a 212 there to better compare .The twin has that 25 watt split and gain that I really like .It does get to be price factor too. I guess I'll just keep looking.
