I don't have it, but occasionally I read posts from guys here that do have it. In my latest Road and Track mag, I saw an ad for this - http://www.quietrelief.com/

I am not associated with it, but maybe you sufferers might want to look into it if you haven't already. Good luck

I have had tinnitus for over 20 years. Medical professionals have told me that there is no drug or herbal medicine that will cure it. There is mental training that has worked for some people (basically you learn how to ignore it I believe) and there are also masking devices that you wear in your ear, which introduce a frequency to cancel out the tinnitus. I have also been told by medical professionals that these can cause other problems with sound recognition/brain function. I've basically learned to ignore it.

I would be interested to hear if anyone has tried this product and what their experience has been.

+1, especially the hearing protection...

A 100w JCM 800 in my teenager's bedroom wasn't the best idea either...
I've had, for as long as I can remember it, a very high pitched permanent ringing in both ears. I pretty much ignore it as it is not too loud, but it gets much worse if I rehearse and don't use protection (er20 type filters work just fine), or strangely, when I'm drunk...(which happens less and less often!).
I try to be very careful now, because other than the ringing, I have very good and accurate hearing.

We just have one set, right?

It's snake oil....they prey on people looking for a cure for a uncureable chronic condition. They want to hook you into an automatic order every month.

Tinnitus can be tough to overcome. As Geano stated, you got to try and ignore it.

Thanks for thinking of us though RR.

welcome. That's too bad if that's the case. But one day maybe they'll have a fix; medicine seems to be advancing at a good pace. Maybe some young doctor with T. in the family will discover something ....

BTW I've already told my wife that when I'm older I'm going to play deaf; I swear my grannie does that just to see what people are saying about her. She's crafty!

Thanks RR ... My high frequency ringing is so constant and loud, at night it's the worst. I can't escape it..... I would give it a try,... although I have tried other products like this, with no relief. Thanks again Red. ( I have , on occasion, considered a 3/16 drill bit right down the middle)

The "dietary supplement" industry is full of hucksters. Wasn't this crap regulated at one time?

Hiya NY Joe. I was thinking of you when I read the ad the first time. Can't imagine what T. sufferers have to go through, and the fact there's no escaping it is a bitch for sure. I will keep looking and asking medical people, there must be some remedy or cure coming some day....

I have been dealing with it for years...it is questionable in my case if it is from years of gigging or severe allergies / sinus. I do know that caffeine can make it worse. If you are a big coffee or soda drinker try to minimize the amount of caffeine to minimize the effect.

PROTECT YOUR HEARING!

I have just tried that product for about a month now. No help but they say it takes longer. It is mostly vitamins. Pretty expensive combination of vitamins. This is the first product like this that I have tired and I am not going to purchase any more.

A few years ago, I went off caffeine for several months and the ringing got worse. My doctor said sometimes it happens that way. They want to "try" a special hearing aid that injects another noise in the ear to counter balance the ringing and then amplify the normal hearing. $5K to $7K for the aid and no help from insurance for them to "try it". NOPE. I thought that since they were going to try adding a sound to balance the ringing, that I would try it myself.

I get good relief if the ringing gets too bad by sitting in a darkened room with headphones listening to good music. Music has helped me more than any doctor.

I have had terrible ringing in my left ear for over 30 years but it was caused by a blast of air in the left ear. I was going under a running school bus, laying on a creeper, and slide under the bus about where the driver sits. Just as I got under the bus the air brake shot a high pressure blast of air out of the pop-off valve and directly into my ear.

very sorry to hear that. It still may be possible to make a claim to your old employer for compensation, have you looked into it? I can help you draft letters if you want

I have never noticed caffeine making my tinnitus worse, but I will second winered82's point that alcohol REALLY makes it bad.

Thanks Red Rocket. I may have to take you up on that. I worked for the state at the time and the supervisor "didn't want an accident on his shift", so he never reported it. Too much paperwork for him. Then it became his word against mine. After he died, it just became "it never happened" from the state's point. My present insurance covers some of the office visits and some medications (which don't work) but nothng will ever compensate all the aggravation.
