• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Has anyone here had the Historic Makeover Standard process (not the full RDS process) done on their Les Paul and how do you like it? Are you happy or do you wish you went for the full Real Deal?

I guess that's really a question for you.....
How anal are you about it being historically accurate?
Is having the tightbond glue instead of hide glue gonna bother you?
A truss rod condom? No awesome binding?
Package A(standard) is mostly about what you can see and feel.
It will change the sound and as the finish cures it will improve big time
Did I mention it will look outstanding.
That said it will not be 100% to spec
I chose to mention the BR board last as this could be tone wise the most debatable mod to the sound and feel. It is possibly a huge deal depending on who you speak with.
If your board is dark and looks nice you might want to keep it.....

This is what I can tell you, nomatter what you chose Kim and team will make you LP look and feel amazing! They bend over backwards to try to get the vibe you are after.

The thing about makeovers is you send your guitar and so much gets done to it, how do you know what to contribute to what as far as tone goes? I replaced all electronics as well had major hardware changes, so my guitar was completely different on return and much better.
Those things are not included in the package. it is most likely an accumulation of all these things do what you can afford or go big or go home either way you'll be happy!

If I ever get one it will most likely be the Standard process... mainly because of the Braz board. Japan is particularly anal about what they let into the country and would have no qualms with tossing it in the trash upon receipt no matter the cost. Some have gotten them here and others have had them returned and others have had them trashed... so I wouldn't risk it. I would probably go for the Standard process with a few extras... there's a guy here I know that does braz boards... better safe than sorry and all that. :2cool
