• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Nice to see someone post a lot of pictures, on the Flickr link.

Wonder if the neck was replaced. The pickups cavities look like they have extra gold on them, including the sidewalls in the neck cavity. Maybe the top was re-finned as well, given how 'goopy' it looks.

No idea what that white stuff is.

The lettering on the PAF stickers look different from one another.

The white stuff is oxidation from the pickup mounting springs, you can see it in pickup closeup pics.

Nice fiddle !

I spotted the oxidation, but it looks different than the white stuff in the tenon crack. Could be the lighting.

In this photo, the oxidation is very different looking. The white stuff looks styrofoam-ish.

Not too far from me. Maybe I'll go check it out.

I agree, a curious lack of weather checking on the goldtop too with all that wear on it...:hmm

My bad, it does look like some kind of fluffy insulation.

Question; when you see the back of the headstock resprayed that heavy, do you question the inkstamp ?

Looks like some kinda cotton insulation. Maybe they stuffed the PU cavity trying to lessen the feedback.

Nice looking GT, and nice to see the seller not try and pass it off as 100% original.

I think he's done well to highlight the issues that he can identify, the rest is up to a buyer to have it checked out :dude::salude

I don't have any problems with that finish, or the lack of checking. The stuff in the tenon looks like cotton, like Eric said.

But the question I have is: $85k for a GT with this many issues? Is that where the market is right now? Seems high.

It seems over the past year or so, asking prices for PAF goldtops have been high. I haven't followed them closely enough to know if they are selling or what the selling prices have been.

Do you think extra gold was added later? Typically, in the neck cavity, on the fretboard-side wall, you can see the different color woods. On this guitar, all the walls are covered in gold.

Here's 8 1014.

This is the second goldtop posted in a month with " goopy " routes.

I asked a question and got no response, so I'll ask again;

Did Gibson ever goof up a paintjob, and reshoot it ?

Are goopy routes really that rare ?

Or does it always mean a refin ?
