• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

This was originally sold through Wildwood but it's just a regular R8 from 2014. Nice wide meaty neck with small shoulders, wide nut and superb feel. 8.04lbs but NOT one of their Fealtherweight series somehow. This one has the gloss finish. The sounds this guitar makes are everything I could want in a Les Paul and then some. The Custom Buckers have tons of vintage PAF character with a wide range of lows, highs, depth, punch. Gibson knows how to get that sound like nobody else. My crappy iphone pics don't but give you an idea how she looks but that's all I have for pics right now. Anyhow here she is.

Fabulous fiddle dude! My R8 is my favorite neck for girth and grip. The best feeling on my new ones because of the extra time rolling the binding is my 56, but the neck on the 58 is my fav. When I am feeling dangerous I'll grab the 54, fast on the 62 Jr., funky the 59 Jr., erudite the R9. Husky is a 56, sensual on the 57 and confused on the 60. The 61 is for weddings or if there are a lot of chicks around.

I still love them. I have no issues with any of the various Gibson made PAF pickups and find them to be professional grade, musical pickups. There are underwound, balanced coils, mismatched coils in two variations, (Burstbuckers and Custombuckers), some increasing in gain, 1, 2 and 3. Enough to find suitable ones for our needs.

I find the Custombuckers in both my 2013 Les Pauls superb! Power with Clarity. Great touch sensitivity and dynamics. They are still in my guitars if that helps. I hope you thoroughly enjoy your guitar, it should be a keeper.

More and more I'm digging the sound of stock pickups and electronics in these guitars. But on this new Lemonburst R8 I think Gibson has truly nailed the classic sounds I've chased forever. I've had other R8s from years ago that sounded pretty sweet but for some reason I thought I needed to switch to 50s wiring and change the pickups in them. It was a learning experience but I remember just changing wiring and caps in my 2005 R8 and a certain very cool PAFish honk disappeared like Houdini and I never quite got it back! This new guitar is like that older R8 and THEN some in that it's got pretty much everything dialed in already, like you said with the touch sensitivity and dynamics etc. And the sustain is off the hook even at low volume where I'm not hearing much if any feedback through the amp. Kudos to the hard work Gibsons Historic Division is doing to make these this good!
