• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Am I alone on this?

To me, guitars are an aesthetically beautiful creation. Is anyone else annoyed by guitar players not removing clip on tuners from the headstock during a performance? We all know why its there, convenience and accuracy of tuning. IMO, it distracts from the beauty of the instrument. After all, they do make "always on" pedals for tuning on the fly...

T C Electronic is great. Mind you, I keep it around back. All anyone would see would be the underside on the clip which is small. I can tune without running back to the pedal board. I can tune down without tap dancing. Never heard anyone say anything about how it looked. It's a great little thing. I'll probably get another as a backup.

I do have the T C Electronic pedal on the board as well.:)

Yeah, I`m with ya, but if that was the worst thing I`ve witnessed at
a performance. Better in tune than not. Pedal tuners work the best.

If I'm playing a gig then my tuning needs are dealt with by the Boss TU2. I'd be paranoid the clip on tuner would fly off and get lost during a gig.

Otherwise at home i'm using the clip on tuner

I tune before the start of the gig. Three sets later and still in tune. What's the deal? :wah :ganz

I never really understood why gigging musicians use those.

In my experience, they do make the headstock look odd, and they simply won't work right if the stage if the drummer and bassist don't keep quiet. The vibration of the whole stage seems to confuse it. I tried to use two different ones in two different gigs. One Snark and one Fender. The second time I tried it, I threw it away (litterally) about mid-gig and got myself a BOSS TU-3.

Best thing I ever did as a guitarist.

Some circumstances and playing styles might give us a hard time keeping the guitar in tune... Bending too much, light gauge strings, lots of tremolo arm usage, sometimes even the temperature variations.

I like having a good tuner pedal. I check it every two sets.

Jesus, I don't think I ever bothered removing it. If I knew the entire guitar playing part of the audience was this offended I guess I would have removed it. Good to know for the next gig :hmm .

I keep it on just to annoy the guitar players in the audience... :rofl

I've seen headstocks with marks left from clip on tuners that were left on for a long time. :damg
