• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

No, I bought it. The photo is one of mine [that I commissioned]. :ganz

There are many rumors of more. I saw a "hulk" once, but never heard if it was verified.

What is a Hulk?

Usually a guitar with no parts, although I think it should also me no finish.
In this case, virtually all readily identifiable details, like headstock overlay with inlay, and the fingerboard was missing. Old refin stripped. Very easily could have been a replica.
But if it was, it was an old replica hulk. :ganz

What model is Paul's reissue? R9? R0?

I believe the Rosie Brooks painted "Crowd Goes Wild" aka 'People Paul' is an R0.

He is sometimes pictured with another Historic, appearing to be an R9... don't know if they've been definitively identified.

Of course, he has his vintage '60 and Goldtop to play... :salude

Grolsch gaskets, strictly. :salude

These are perfect and I along with many, many others use them, even on Bursts.
But you don't need to buy the beer to get them. In fact, I hear Grolsch doesn't use the old style rubber washers.
They can be had very cheap. I sell them at the Texas guitar shows … 4 for $1.
Email me if you [or Sir Paul and the band] want some. :ganz

Does anyone have an idea on which LP (goldtop or burst) Paul used while recording his album CHOBA B CCCP? According to the recording notes he played electric guitar on a few of the tracks. It sounds like an LP rather than his Epiphone Casino, but I'm not sure which LP, or if one could even tell based on the year difference (57 vs 60).

One could use dates, if they knew when Paul got his burst. The album was recorded in July 1987. Scott Jennings of Route 66 guitars once made a post mentioning that Paul got his burst in 1987, but no saying what time of year.

There is a confirmed recording of McCartney with the goldtop from this era - his performance on The Last Resort television show in 1987. Live videos show that McCartney was playing his goldtop, but I did not include them as an example because the audio quality is not as good as the embedded video.

As far as I know, there are 3 left handed 1960 Bursts, and of course Sir Paul already has one.
