• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

I play guitar mostly, but I started on bass, and I love it when I get the odd opportunity to play bass with other players.

I own a Fender AmStd Jazz Bass

But these are my others. The Ric is my fave bass, and I've had it since 1978.

That Rick is sick! Nice. I used to have a black one from '83. I ended up selling it because I rarely played it (I'm a guitarist and just rarely picked up the bass) and I wanted to fund a guitar purchase, but I do miss it.

As a great fan of bass guitars, I trying to play guitar with bass in the best manner. According to my husband, I should learn the bass with bass pedals but in my opinion, I can make interesting tones with bass guitars that's why I am trying to get Fender Deluxe P-Bass. On the other hand, according to my husband, I should try to play bass on the next level and prefer to get a bass pedal from here ( https://www.sound-beat.com/bass-pedals-effects/multi-effects/ ). Yes, according to him, I should start with multi-bass. However, I am confused between a number of multi-bass pedals especially when it comes to footswitch feels.

While this is a matter of personal taste and subjective opinion, with all due respect your husband could not be more wrong. The most important thing about bass is finding the right groove and propelling the song. NOT endless tone tweaks and pedals. What your husband suggests is a guitarist's approach, and totally inappropriate for bass. Ignore your husband's bad advice. Focus on a good basic tone and playing what's right for the song. You can do all that "next level" crap in ten years, if you even want to.

Break a leg!
