• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

What is your favorite album of all time?

Good call on ELO.

Are you sure he responded to your question and wasn't trying to move you along? "Who's next, please?" :rofl :ha

I've left out 2 of my favourite bands (Zed Zep and Rush), but purely as a favourite album it would have to be one of these...

ZZ Top - Tres Hombres
Steely Dan - Can't Buy a Thrill
Robben Ford - Talk to your Daughter

I can't even pick my favorite Jimi album or Stooges album. Or pick between A Love Supreme and Kind of Blue.

Parliament - Osmium gets pretty close, though. :hmm

Certainly a tough question & at the same time a great question! For me, it will first be UFO`s 'Obsession' [1978] because of Michael Schenker`s phenomenal lead guitar playing on it. He then quit the band shortly after this LP & had a long-standing solo career. In `93/`94 he rejoined UFO, they produced 3 more LPs/CDs with their first release 'Walk on Water' being ever bit as good as 'Obsession'. Schenker`s lead guitar playing, w/ UFO esp., 'speaks' to me more than any other guitarist [although I love early Billy Gibbons too, plus others!]

If it HAS to be just one:

Are You Experienced

The UK version, with the incomparable (non echo) Red House.

Though mostly a compilation of things in an obscure movie, Jimi Hendrix’s, Rainbow Bridge and The Bro’s live at the Fillmore. Or even their double compilation album, Beginnings. I actually played it more than Fillmore.

So many great albums mentioned.

And reflects our diversity of musical tastes.

I reckon there can be no one best album.

What I do find interesting is that many forum members here like to be liking the best music coming from the 60's, 70's, 80's and early 90's.

Not much after that.

I wouldn't say the days of great bands and music are over yet.

But I wish there were contemporary bands now that said something like this.....

"We're Motorhead and we play rock n' roll!"

True. I think there's still quite a bit of talent out there, but there's two huge obstacles. One, let's face it, pretty much anything palletable to the masses has been done, and the music business has changed.
