• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

What were the best "dust ups" we've had here on the LPF during the last 21 years?

indeed, there have been many heated discussions over the years. Some of the most notable hot button issues seem to be wood types, old vs new, boutique pafs, relicing. I’m sure I missed a few.

I applaud you Charlie, and kudos to you and the LPF for celebrating diversity of thought even as it presents itself on these pages. Too many forums have applied the jackboot of PC censorship in an effort to engineer some sort of homogeneous PC friendly safe space. This seems to be a troubling trend reflective of society at large. Nothing is more crucial to individual liberty than freedom of speech. And nothing is more essential to the continued progress of mankind than the open exchange of ideas.

Bottom line, its nice to have a place where even highly impassioned debate is possible.

Would anyone know where I could find the post about the African burst? Definitely missed that one.

"I've hurt myself & there's blood in my urine, so I'm logging onto the LPF to see what I should do"
Does anyone recall that thread? Good times

This must be the full 21 years ago but I used to get into it with all caps RICH, The self-proclaimed best guitarist on the planet and the king of all metal lol... but it turns out that not only did we eventually smooth things out but I ended up going to his home with my first conversion and he had a goldtop as well and we had some fun swapping pickups and cranking up his vintage Marshall wall of death!

I don;t remember dust0-ups per se - though the recent Burst bust is still fresh - or the two of them - the Toronto affair and the one in England.
Edit: |I've been here for over 15 yers now (WOW!!!!) and like that |I'm free to express my silly opinions and just as freely have them shot down with no animosity on either side.
Wasn't there a guy for a while in the Amp section, who any time someone would ask for advice, would say, "you want an Engl Fireball..." and show pics of his stacks. Even for people looking for a small jazz amp.
But really, the stuff I like is that there are big-name pros here, and they're treated (mostly....) like any other Les Paul fan.

On a light note, my particular favorite was the epic pissing match between Plaintop and PatentAppliedFor (RIP), that went on for over 25 pages. In that thread, I posted, at semi-regular intervals, pics of horses fucking with the proviso: "This thread is kinda like watching horses fuck. It's slightly embarrassing, but you can't look away.":hee

On a more serious note, there have been some high dollar fakes outed on these pages, even when we were threatened with lawsuits. I'm proud of the membership's and ownership's collective backbone in those instances.:dude:
Hey Charlie, I’m thinking I might want to learn a little about Les Paul’s.....

It wasn't PAF, it was Jim Seavall, the guy who owns scumback speakers. I just can't remember what his name on the forum was at the time...

The 'God of Rock' from very early on was a good thread!

The Korina Explorer thread is a definite favourite. As said above, rainbow signature and the appraisal of Scott Sheldon's 'Bursts' made for interesting reading.

I remember that incident very well. Anybody knows what happened to the guitar at the end of all the mess?
Wow. I was the guy who noticed it was the catalog burst! What did end up happening?

I was involved with a "dust up" way back when where the offending party tried to say I was not smart and called me an "idot". It ended up as a smilie! Of course the WTF Big Al smilies and all were great
