• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

What's the earliest confirmed Patent-sticker guitar?

Here's a Q for you all.. When did the Pat.# pickups transition to T-Top bobbins? I have a set of Pat.#'s I just picked up that have PAF bobbin's. They came out of a 1965 SG Standard. They're pretty typical; copper coloured wire can be seen through the little circle/square window. They read 7.48k & 7.64K, short magnets, chrome covers but nickle plated screws.
Thanks!

I have a nos never installed pat# Ttop with one T coil and one square hole paf coil. It was in a brown cardboard factory box. Ordered for a repair and never installed.

Not until late 1967 or so. Possibly even early 1968.

Tons of false information out there about when the change to T-Tops began. There might be a random example we can find earlier than this, but the bottom line is: expect to find pre-T-Top bobbins very deep into 1967.

This mid-to-late 1960s Byrdland with the Venetian cutaway but reflector knobs A34181 (between July and December 1960) has at least one patent # pickup.

Cross-posting this gem. But unfortunately, I don't know the date on the guitar. I suspect, but do not know, that it's an ES-350TDN.
