• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

What have you bought guitar-related in the last 48 hours?

We buy all sorts of interesting (and uninteresting too) gear and accessories all the time... It's fun to share.

Me, it was 6 fresh sets of D'Addario 10ers and two phosphor-bronze 12ers for my Washburn acoustic.

A set of Curtis Novak Tele V pick ups.
A good price and just the thing to nail a 50's tone.

Nice knife in the upper right corner, too.
Opinel No8? I've had one of those for 25+ years now. Easily my favorite knife.
Been through the wringer, but it stays sharp no matter what.

Absolutely nothing. Too busy ringing the cash accumulator bell at the veterinarian for one of my dogs.

I bought some tubes and some resistors for an amp I'm working on. I also just bought a Yamaha THR10 after watching a video of Philip Sayce shredding through a little THR10 with a great sounding Strat. I figure it might be a great tool for quite practice and play-along and for the 190 bucks I spent, it's easily worth a try.

She was fourteen years old and was having breathing issues. Turned out that she was developing esophageal paralysis and some other issues. We had to put her to sleep at lunch time. Her brother is lying at my feet right now.

Sad to hear that.

Very sad. We are due for a new dog. Very much on the fence on that subject... until the pup shows up of course.

Not sure these qualify as “buys” but I had some flyers of my band’s bar and biker club gigs framed. I like the road memorabilia.

-2 Weller 7250w tips for my 140w soldering gun to use when I solder to pot cases

-2 PIO 0.022uf caps,

-a set of recessed gold speed knobs(they sit closer to the body)

-a set of recessed knurled gold speed knobs. Both sets fit the CTS pots waiting to go in the guitar in my avatar.

-Some new heat shrink tubing that's small enough to fit a single wire or a capacitor leg, etc...

-Behringer EQ700 7 band eq pedal plus boost.

So sorry for your loss, Bob. My eyes are welling up with tears just thinking about it.

I still haven't gotten over the sudden death of my last dog, a female chocolate lab I literally raised from birth in 2004. I kept one of her brothers, also, but had to give him to someone around 2011 because I couldn't keep them both in an apartment. He was huge. 95 lbs vs she at 60 lbs.

She was fine that morning and by that evening, her mouth had been bleeding nonstop all afternoon. I got it to stop for about an hour when I took her to the emergency vet that night. As soon as I got home, it started again and never stopped again after that.

So I ended up holding her and laying with her and feeding her bacon and stuff for the entire last 24 hours of her life. According to the vet, she was too old to take a chance at doing surgery on so there was nothing I could do and I felt so, so, so helpless. It still really messes with me pretty bad even today, and that was in 2017. After the death of my daughter and only child in 2014 and my grandpa 11.5 months later in 2015, this almost broke me.

I waited 2 weeks and got a puppy to fill her shoes. It was the best decision I ever could've made. Turns out that the AKC-registered chocolate lab I bought randomly in town has pedigree through the greatest Derby dog in AKC history named Ammo aka Upon the Wings of An Answered Prayer. I named her Dixie and she is, by far, the best & smartest dog I've ever owned. And I love my dog more than anything.

Sorry for getting off-topic. I love my dogs and dogs in general.

Thank you for your kindness. Yes it is tough, really tough. We got down on the floor and rubbed her head and back and she looked deeply into my eyes as she passed. Today we took her brother for a long drive in the sunshine and got him a "puppy cone" of soft serve at DQ. He's been a little lost but the trip out lightened his mood a bit.
