• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Should I trade my SG Standard + G0 for a 57 Custom Black Beauty RI (3 pickup)

I have been shopping my next purchase now for 2 years, Although I walk a minefield of Murphys - M2M's, Heavy aged , light aged , Historic's ,

Ive ruled out Norlin , 60's Kalamazoo Although I have owned several just no jones .

Im really back to ground zero and Murphy Rossington has me sinking down , Wildwood had one with a shattered taffy top last spring 7900.00 its so painful to be a coward!

If that's a Custom Shop Historic Custom and has an ebony FB (not richlite), and you REALLY like it, I don't think this trade is all that bad. If the SG were a Custom Shop I'd say no way, but a production line model...unless this one is an exceptionally outstanding example they are a dime a dozen. If the SG is just 'OK' I'd say it comes down to how exceptional that G0 is and how exceptional that Custom is. If the G0 is just 'OK' but the Custom is great, then it doesn't sound like a bad move. But needless to say that Custom would need to be a great one, and like others have said, make sure you want a 3 pickup. I had a 3 pickup Firebird and while I loved the sound of the Bridge + Middle setting, I ended up selling it because my picking was clumsy with that middle pickup in the way.
