• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

I was just goofing around on the Ric this morning and recorded a bit of it--with a heartfelt tribute at the verrrrry end to Peter Boyle's singing in Young Frankenstein.

All of a sudden I have a hankering for some crackers!

What have you bought guitar-related? I bought the last 4 volumes of Hemingway's letters. It's guitar related because I plan to write a song about Hemingway's reading. He used to stay in bed for three days at a time to read, books stacked beside him, everything from St Thomas to Henry Miller. ---I wasn't really going to write a song about it but now that I said it, I might. I'm really just going into a nerd coma about having all 5 volumes of the letters.
Make sure you reference the whacky part about Jordan's love affair with Maria. That made no sense whatsoever.

The sex scene and to paraprhase: the forever now and this now and a not now and now and forever now and this now, that now, forever now now--it's laughable. My subjective opinion says For Whom the Bell Tolls is a fantastic book, but that relationship destorys the good will of many readers.

I am going to start using "forever now" as a euphemism for sex. "Darling, shall we retire to the boudoir and enjoy a bit of Forever Now?"

What will you put on your Ritz?
This is going to sound weird, but as kids we’d put a bit of peanut butter on some Ritz, plop a large marshmallow on stick it in the toaster oven for a couple of minutes. Kinda like a low class ‘s’more. But tasty nonetheless.

Not weird. My mother used to cover them with chocolate or the same stuff on a zero bar and dip them in it and bake them. Totally delicious.

Not sure how difficult it is to find it up where you live, but try them with guava paste and you'll never stop.

Apparently they have guava paste at the supermarket down the street. I’ll give it a shot!

I really like it with regular cream crackers, I mean those square ones without the salt grains, but it goes well with all kinds of savoury biscuits. Put a slice of the guava paste between two crackers like a sandwich.

Should I go ahead and delete my Fender Forum bookmark? It only opens up to that warning page. If it's not coming back, I don't want that sad reminder of what used to be.

I love that place a lot but it isn’t going to last much longer.

IMHO: The ones who actually care about our band of brothers are already here. The ones that prefer the place to the people and make a point in sinking with the ship might not come over. To each his own.

It's just a warning. It says the site's SSL certificate has expired. It doesn't mean you don't have a secure connection, it's just an annoyance.

I'm not sure why they haven't renewed it. I use the free Let's Encrypt on my web site, and it even auto-renews.

Yeah, it’s just a warning alright. A warning that whatever life support TFF has been on has been unplugged.

Since most of us are over here anyways, the real loss is the collective wisdom of what’s been documented there over the years. But at the same time, the signal to noise ratio is very small. Not sure it’s worth the effort of rebuilding the TFF database on another platform. Big job with many potential complications.

I get the Grateful Dead Channel on Sirius and I can access it through my phone so that's usually what's on. The Dead recorded pretty much every show they did so besides the usual album cuts you get concerts and some deep deep tracks like El Paso or Baba O'Riley which is fun. I heard them do a fun cover of the Isley Brother's Hard to Handle yesterday.

Sometimes when the mood hits me I'll bop over to Radio Margaritaville for some island flavor.
I've been a deadhead for a long time and I guess I've never had a chance to hear their rendition of Baba O'Reilly. I'll get right on that. :)

We could start a whole thread on album cover art! Some of mine:

Rolling Stones: Satanic Majesties Request (with the hologram on the cover)
Velvet Underground featuring Nico (with the peelable banana)
Jethro Tull: Stand up (when you open the cover, the band members "stand up")
John Lennon: The Wedding Album (the album was a throwaway, but it came in a box with all sorts of goodies in it!)
The Beatles: Abbey Road (my early release did not list "Her Majesty" on either the jacket or the label. But it was there)

I probably have some more. Those are the ones that just came to mind.
OK - I'll play. I bought a collection of about 1000 records years ago for $100. I promptly culled about 400 from that - and just recently culled another 100. I catalog'ed my collection on Discogs just recently. In one of my ELO records I discovered a folded cardstock with a pop-out space station display that was never assembled. The funniest part is that the insert was from "Out of the Blue" which I don't even have, but was inserted in the Greatest Hits album along with that sleeve. Also - one of my early Chicago double albums has a 4' x 6' foldout poster. Doing the math, that's 24x the size of the record (24 square feet, really). Then, I discovered a cool poster in my Sgt. Pepper's Soundtrack. And, I won't bore you with everything, but of course I have pristine copies of Physical Graffiti (Led Zep) and Some Girls (Rolling Stones) that have the cutouts that show pictures from the inner sleeve on through to the outside.
