• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Question for Forum Members:

What’s the one guitar that invokes a deep, visceral, nauseating reaction when you look at it? For me it’s the Dave Grohl Trini Lopez 335.

As much as I loved Ed Roman as a friend I could post a lot of his stuff here.

That being said, the Kramer Grim Reaper gets my vote. Has anyone ever seen one of these in person? They must be like 8' long. I'm guessing you have to be about 6'4 to stand up and play one as that blade looks really long.

I know there was one for sale without the blade for a while on eBay. I would love to see one in person, not even play it just to say I did.

There’s something that happens to me when I see a Strat body with a PRS headstock, that is the Silver Sky. It is pure visceral disgust.. don’t know why..the name is vomit inducing too.
But I get visions of a Strat with completely inappropriate objects for a headstock, like a gigantic pink Pigeon’s foot or even a human foot.
I guess my brain is scandalized by the deep, vulgar, aesthetic incongruity. I mean it’s just plain wrong!
I do fantasize about throwing the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch at it.
Well, I feel better now.
Thank you for the opportunity.
Apologies to fans of the, well I just can’t say the name of it again, you know, the thing.
:D

I don't get it. They're just flippin' guitars and now it's just a freakin' fashon parade of stuff some shallow posers don't think look as cool as they should when voguing in the mirror. Makes me sick to my stomach.

I can't say that any really give me that reaction, other than vintage instruments hacked up and such.
There are a lot that aren't my taste, but I remember a boss I once had saying, in regards to a pink-and-green plaid sportscoat, "There's a used car salesman somewhere in need of a jacket." In other words, if it's not my taste, it's to someone else's, somewhere.

Most of the "shredder" guitars......with all the sharp angles and cuts. Doesnt make me sick to my stomach but I wouldn't keep it if you gave it to me.

You are taking it wasay to seriously I think.

I took it as if being a bit of a joke. Surely there are some guitars that you find ugly! It’s all subjective of course.

Look I was one of those fools that used to think Telecasters were ugly! Well they are still ugly, but wisdom and appreciation for a genius design and tone finally hit my confused ass and now I think they are beautiful.

But yeah, I think this is supposed to be a trivial, but fun thread.
