• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Not claiming to be an expert but I have observed this aspect when pouring over photos of supposed original 1958 Gibson Flying V guitars.
Can you share any photos showing full-width tenon? Pleasantly surprised given that makes my replica more accurate than I thought, but I’ve just never seen pics of an original built like that.

Great thread with detailed images. But all pics in that thread show the type of tenon common with Gibsons, regardless if heel was shaped on the neck (like LPs) or extended from body (which I think is more common on original Vs). No pics in that thread show a tenon as found on Sonic Guitars replicas, where the tenon doesn't narrow until after the fretboard. This leaves a very visible, sloppy looking joint that I haven't seen on any Gibson....it looks more like a Fender but glued in, which is weird.

Pic from that thread...

Clean joint from body to neck, what it should look like regardless whether a V has the extended tongue to form heel from body, or if it's part of the neck like my Vaschenko/Protocaster finished Explorer...

I can very much vouch for Banker Custom at about half the price of a Gibson CS model, which gets you a Braz board and OX4's on top of your own neck shape, thin, hard nitro that checks, and overall great build quality.

Already plotting all the details in my head for a matching Explorer, after that I just need to plot how to fund it 😅

You know I never went through with this completely. I am now waiting for my Bartlett version. I am certain and I do not doubt Banker could have made me a great guitar.

I believe Joe Riggio now has a similar licensing deal with Gibson, I’ve seen he’s done a couple of Les Paul’s and seemingly has some V’s on the way.

Les Paul’s had a different (albeit quite nice) headstock shape but I’d assume the V’s will be dead accurate.

Bartlett does some great stuff, will be keen to see pictures when it’s ready!
