• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

1959 & 1960 ES330's.

Shared a cracking afternoon yesterday with a great Pal of mine, and a couple of his gorgeous guitars.

Incredibly beautiful guitars both. Blonde 1960, single Pickup 1959.

The pat pending obligatory omitn double hander shot.....

Okay so my face has turned green(with envy)..........too good Paul.
I take it you spent time with Uncle Bob.
Hadn't noticed it before but the different tuners compared to 335s etc......... and did they have fatter necks at all? Cheers.

Steve, the 59 had the fatter neck of the two, with the 60 being a little flatter with the same amount of shoulder as it's older brother. Neither could be described as handfuls, but both immensely satisfying to play. I preferred the 59 neck, but only because I prefer big necks.

It's a first for me playing a single middle position p90, as sweet as the proverbial nut. I went straight to ballsing up a Grant Green impersonation with aplomb!!!

Those tuners...every time I see them on a guitar they scare me to death...I swear they're going to crumble in my hand. They haven't yet for sixty odd years though. I'm just waiting for the day when I'm the lucky sod who tunes em to dust!!

Hope you're well Pal?

All good over here thanks Paul with no lockdowns since Feb in Auckland..........mid winter for us now with our South Island taking a hammering with flooding in some parts.
Music wise it's going fine with my R'n'R band doing regular R'n'R club gigs. Still waiting for my M2M 335 though, been a year already, hopefully August but I'm not holding my breath. You'd love it as it'll have a big fat D shape 1" at the 1st neck with straight shoulders(y)

How do you like that single for rockin' oot?

I have seen a few for sale and they intrigue me...
Through a Tweed Deluxe circuit at the tipping point, the guitar roared...literally.

Fantastically complex tone.

I fell in love instantly.

As I did when I played the 1960 Blonde last year.

I think you're right to be intrigued Ren, I think one of these would suit you down to the ground.

Hope all's well. Love to the crew.

I'll require POSH accommodations for the voyage. I'll need to speak to the Captain about that.
I avoid speaking to the Officers at all costs...it usually ends up with the buggers giving me something to do.

Both those guitars look great! The single pickup looks simple and fun. That was a fun day!

Vintage ES-330's are real gems, here is my '59, single pickup sounds great plugged in or not and a real comfortable neck. Bought at least 25 years ago, has a few non original parts but she's a keeper obviously.Photo - ES-330.jpg

Lovely stuff! The 330 is the guitar that most feels like home to me. There's something about the combination of fully hollow DC body, deep neck joint and P90s that I find really sweet.
