• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

A stupid question

There is another Les Paul site where the forum looks very much like this one, perhaps you people are aware of it. I am on both of them. My (stupid) question is, are they related in any way?
I don’t want to be posting the identical topics on both if there is a crossover of some sort.
If they are totally separate from each other I will feel free to do just that as I will be able to connect with more people with more ideas and knowledge to share.
Although I’m sure I’m not the only one on both sites.
Hope it was ok to ask this.

I'll tell you this.
You'll find a great deal of information and knowledgeable members in both sites. Neither of them is exactly easy on newcomers.
Many are members of both, but the other site sees a lot more traffic and is more welcoming of humor.
With time you'll sort out which topics are better suited for each.

Yes. I found that out the hard way. Lots of newcomers get scared away never to return, I’m sure.

This is the forum to be for vintage Les Pauls, the other one is better for woodworking and humour. That's how I classify the forums (YMMV of course)

The dynamic of the two forums has changed a lot over the years with the changes in active members. For Norlin era guitars and guitar building, that’s the place to be.

No fun allowed here! 😂 Seems a few guilty of this infraction have moved on anyway. Which makes me wonder if our former LP ‘docent’, TW, went over there?

I was a member here many moons ago. I was, also, not a favorite child. An off forum dust up got me banned.
When I found out about some changes I reupped. I like the resource this place is.

I got banned from the other place years ago.

The only time I've visited and found it useful since is the cut and paste stuff that I pinched off them to post in the thread here in that Guitarpoint fiasco some years ago.

They do it their way, we do it ours.

Plenty of room for both.

Make your own choices.

Well I do tend to visit both sites. I just don’t want to be posting the same thing on both places if the same people are seeing them

I would imagine the intersection of people who use both places would be as interested as yourself to see a cross section of answers given to any posed question from both groups.

There are some good Lads here, there are some good Lads over there.

It's a win-win.

That one's for kids, this one is for grown ups.

The other place does not hide its view of the world from a vista way way off to the right hand side of things. Moderators tend to use their personal opinions rather than defined forum rules. The other place is filled with enough asshats to make it not worth visiting. I like it here; I don’t post a lot but I do read and learn a fair amount.
