The protestors let themselves get assimilated into what they were protesting against and then learned new & more effective ways to vilify and silence anyone protesting against the new status quo.

You know what the whole Fuxing world had become way too sensitive for me. Because its Clapton the guy cant have have a right or an opinion or is it because he's Clapton he is supposed to only have far leftist Hollywood elite views on the world only.

Let me remind you this is the same guy that in the mid 70's caught hell because he said he supports Enoch Powell and his immigration policies and stated " “I don’t want you here, in the room or in my country,” Clapton said. “Listen to me, man! I think we should vote for Enoch Powell. Enoch’s our man. I think Enoch’s right, I think we should send them all back." and right away the guy was dubbed a racist.

The man has a right to his opinions both personally and politically and he dont need the worlds approval weather he decides to share them or not or even explain them. Muhammed Ali was dubbed a hero for his political views on the war and becoming a Muslim and because he was black that was just fine. Some would say he was a draft dodger and used the Muslim faith to dodge the war. Clapton was dubbed a racist for his immigration views in the 70's and now Clapton certainly dont need Robert Cray, The WP, or Rolling Stone's permission but yet he is now dubbed SHAMEFUL!
Come on. Comparing Clapton with Ali? Laughable. Ali faced jailtime and could not compete during his prime. Clapton said something saucey at a show in the 70s while addicted to heroin.

there seem to be a lot of bona-fide Clapton experts coming out of the woodwork these days. I had one gentleman today passionately informing me that Clapton was a Bigot and a Racist among other things. I innocently asked him " know him well then do you ? spend a lot of time hanging out at the mansion ?? you and EC must be tight " he replied well I've never actually seen or spoken to the man but I "heard" this stuff.
Well in that case it must be true.
Reminds we of someone who loudly proclaimed " All Harley-Davidson's are garbage, they leak oil constantly and fall apart in a matter of months" to which I replied, tell me sir, how many Harley's have you owned ?? well, I've never actually owned one but my brother's cousins friend let me sit on his in the driveway once. Experts all of them

To me Robert Cray is the one comes off sounding like a real prick. With "friends" like that who needs enemies? His first time dropping EC was because EC supports fox hunting?? Then in this whole mixed up Covid crisis with a thousand mixed messages coming from every angle every day, EC gets vaxxed and then almost loses his hands and voices concerns that go against the current dogma of his peers and his friends all abandon him. Seriously, Cray? So unfriend me for THAT?? Wow. What a joy it must be to hang out with someone so opinionated.

If there's anything to expand on regarding this I'd like to know please.
It's the sort of thing that might come up in a game of trivial pursuit. I find it quite incongruous in a way.

i said in another thread kinda half joking its become difficult to be a EC fan, his opinions are just that HIS, if thats how he feels about what personally happened to him thats fine, if he voices them in a public setting thats fine. I think the real issue which someone else pointed to, is the anti lockdown album he did with Van Morrison. that is putting your opinion in your art, i tuned in for the blues solos not to hear two old rich guys tell me how bad its been to be locked in their country villas. Eric will always be my guiding light on the electric guitar, when i was younger i wanted to dress like, play like, move like, act like EC he was by far my biggest influence. i got the chance to meet him once and personally he was very very nice. i guess the point is I (i dont wanna speak for the class) I put to much faith in him and I am upset by the outcome thats no bodys fault by mine. I hope his music lives forever, i am hoping clapton stops giving interviews.

This whole ‘Claptonian, Witch-hunt’ thing has almost become comical...if not for the sadness associated with it all. A man. A man with a guitar. A man that plays his guitar. A man with a brain beyond the fretboard. A man with said brain, has his own, unique opinions. *GASP!*

“Shut Up 'n Play Yer Guitar”, indeed!

Pete Townsend plays Eric Claptons Fender signature Strat. I like Eric Clapton, and he is the reason why he plays a Strat. He is a great guitarist, even if he is a crusty old rock star who talks to much about politics.

461 Ocean Boulevard and Journeyman are great albums.
