Regular Les Paul Custom vs Les Paul Custom Reissues

Hi, I have a question regarding the les paul custom ebony guitars (black beauty with gold hardware)

I’d like to know if the regular Les paul custom (black beauty) is made in the same custom shop as the les paul custom 57 and 68 reissues.

I saw on multiple sites that the regular custom would be of lesser quality and would simply be a gibson USA guitar with a custom shop stamp on it and the reissues would be « real » custom shop guitars, is this true?

I want to know if the regular les paul custom ebony gloss is of the same quality as the 68 or 57 reissues, and if they are really made in the custom shop the same way as the reissues.

There’s a significant price difference and I’d to be sure about this before making a purchase. Thank you.

The 57 reissue is all hog. The 68 has the maple cap. Both lack any sort of weight relief.

The 57 reissue custom is what you want. But I’m a little biased

Made in Custom Shop... with different i.e. more contemporary (not historic) specs

Nothing wrong with them.

Yes, Reissues are the titz! 🍑

Customs are made in the same Custom Shop as the Reissues, they are just made to different specs (ie, not to Historically correct specs). Customs have short neck tenons, hotter/modern pickups, Nashville bridges, and I don’t think their tailpieces are lightweight aluminum (wiring is likely somewhat different as well). There are other spec differences, but those are some of them. That said, regular Customs are great guitars! Really just depends on what you want.

ok thank you for the info! Think I’ll go with the regular custom the additionnal 2k$ is not worth it for a couple of « historic » specs, pickups, headstock angle and no 9 holes in the body… not seeing the point of paying More for the 68 honestly.

I have an all hog ‘57 reissue from 2004. It sounds great. Not sharp and plinky like the maple cap versions.

Sweet! Now I'm jealous my 2010 LPC Silverburst is short tenon! Oh well, it's a beast regardless! :)
Not sure I’d be that jealous, not one person here or anywhere has been able to describe the difference in tone between a long tenon and a short tendon Les Paul.

Describing the difference is easy... it's about 5/8 of an inch (give or take). ;)

I have LPs with both... and to be honest, one of the short tenon ones sustains a bit longer than one of the long tenons ones. That said, were I to order a new LP through the M2M program (or have a luthier build me a replica) I'd order it with a long tenon... just because. :)
