• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

How do I submit a custom order through the Gibson Custom Shop?

I think it's whatever floats YOUR boat.

That is what M2M is all about.

Do you experts think the CS would be able to make the Purple/Lavender Sparkle finish happen?

Everything I've posted, including Lavender Sparkle, has been a finish Gibson CS has produced already, so... yes.

Only bureaucratic issues, ignorance, supply issues, or some limited/exclusivity reason would prevent them from doing so...

But I doubt it.

Hey guys. I'm leaning towards the Heather Poly finish.

What do you guys think?

Personal choice.

Lavender Sparkle is a recent incarnation of a sparkle, more 'rare' yet with no vintage/classic precedence.

Heather Poly is a vintage/classic 'Custom Color' from the 60s age of Firebirds, etc. that gets used in many new CS releases. IIRC haven't seen on a USA release.

I almost went for this Heather Poly from Vic... just have 'too many' (gasp!) SGs with Maestros to justify color/price.

I wonder if Gibson has looked into offering it's customers a roll your own option, like the "Fender Mod Shop"

pay the upcharge to... pick your color, pick your neck profile, pick your pickups, pick your hardware.

For my M2M order I went with a ‘54 Custom format, one piece mahogany body and ebony board with the staple neck and P90 bridge, but had them replicate the neck carve from my ‘18 R9. (They had a record with the serial #). Alpine white top over a brown back and neck with a white stinger. Black plastics and gold hardware. It’s going to be kind of unique and can’t wait to get it.
So much for my M2M....Wildwood got a '54 BlackBeauty in and it did the trick. 9.23 lps, neck felt great, the staple pickup is spectacular and it saved me a chunk of change under the the M2M I had ordered. The customer color might have been cool, but I'm really happy with the classic ebony, and I don't have to wait for another year!. Wildwood was happy to sell out of inventory and cancelled the M2M order.

Congrats.... pics.

Your M2M color scheme was cool, was looking forward to seeing... but better for you to be happy with your choice!

Hey guys. OP here.

I was on vacation for most of last month.

When I returned to NJ, I got some disappointing news from the Gibson Garage in Nashville.

The staff there told me that the CS do NOT offer any particular shades of purple/violet for M2M orders.

How the heck is that possible????

This seems odd... since we all know Gibson does produce that color, or has done so.

Perhaps inquire of another [forum] dealer like Wildwood, House of Guitars, Dave's, Willcutt, Music Zoo, etc. They probably know how to navigate.

Otherwise chime in on @matkoehler thread about it and see if he might know.

That thread is here =>

Try going through a dealer as jb says, supply a photo of the shade you want and take it from there, you'll get either a yes or a no.
With my recent M2M I wanted a particular tobacco sunburst finish on my 335, supplied one or two pics and CS got it pretty much spot on.
