Grover Imperial tuners on Kluson headstock without altering?

Just curious if there’s any tricks or products out there to do this? I have a new 355 and I love the art deco look of the Imperial buttons for this guitar but I don’t think I can bring myself to alter the guitar in a irreversible way.

Thanks!

When I bought my 1976 SG decades ago the Grover Imperial tuners are one of the things I loved the most about the guitar. My advice to you is that you only live once so put the Grover’s on your guitar. You will love it and if you decide to sell someday you will very likely find a buyer like me who thinks those are beautiful. You can put the old tuners in the case for the new owner.

OP knows this, but I think he is concerned about having to alter his guitar permanently to install them.

What model '335 did you get? Can you post a pic of the front of the headstock, showing one of the tuners?

An ES-355 should have Grover Rotomatic. The tuners in the link are Grover Rotomatic with Grover Imperial buttons. They should require no modifications, so I am not sure the OP knows these tuners.

OP wrote he has an ES-355, not an ES-335.

Ah yes, of course. I agree that a '355 probably has Rotomatics and the Imperials would be a direct replacement. I'd still like to see a pic, to be sure.

The Imperials wouldn't be a direct replacement. It has two screws instead of one and the post's diameter is larger. But the Rotomatics with stairstepped buttons instead of the butterbean buttons in the link would be a direct replacement.

Well I'll be a monkey's uncle. I always thought Imperials were Rotomatics with different buttons. Thanks for learning me something new.
