• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

TL checking in.....

Hey man, where have you been?
Are you still wandering around the lower east side?
Playing out anywhere?

Thanks guys, ya im still around.
The Plandemic hit me hard as to playing out.
It really put the last nail in the coffin of the NYC music scene.
Ruff 2 to 3 years for me. But we all had shit happen with this nonsense.

Yeah, it's been a very rough 2 or 3 years for most people! I'm glad to hear that you're able to play again. Hopefully, the live music scene will continue to improve and eventually thrive again!

TL: My sense is you are pretty happy with your stable and haven't been caught by trading up to 'more better' with TH or Murphy Lab's correct?

This speaks well of the ones we've got, right? Folks clamoring for new ML's and such forget (or never knew)... we've had it pretty good since early 2000s, overall.

Pretty Little Liftons... all in a row! 🍑

Well, TH is just a rebranding. The only thing that changed where parts.
So there is not trading up to the same thing.
Murphy Lab is also just a name.
They clame they changed the nito. I find that to be lets say to be kind an exaggeration.
The ones i have seen are not good.
Freezer burn.
In truth Tom has has a "lab" for years.
Once agin its Gibson playing the name game.

All Historics have been Structurally the same since 2003
With the exception of the truss rod condom the hide glue for the neck and board only... tops were neva glued with hide glue.
And the nut meteral.
Parta however have changed.
But us old guys had changed all the parts years ago.
The most current i have is a 2014.

Its very important to know there is sno such thing as a correct top carve no such thing as a correct neck shape
And every Historics top and neck ar different.

I only use Historics for 30 years now.
I have been thru all of Gibsons games.
And when it comes down to it.
They had it "right" a long time ago.

Just look at the ridiculous greenie they just put out.
Extremly Limited.... hugely over priced
And its just a regular Historic...
And they already did greenie...
You allways have to look out for the marketing department...
They look to get ya every time..

Find a good Historic that is your #1 and believe me you can change anything that not right
And you got yourself a burst.

I am a ferm believer that a Historic has become the new bursts
Ony difference that mattera between them is age...
And remember when Page and Clapton used them they were only 10 year old guitars

I really would like to get a Historic book going...
I would be willing to put time in to the project. But i definitely couldn't do it alown
Yeah a book would answer a lot of questions with facts not internet hearsay.
That would be a big project but is something that would generate interest.

I hightailed it out of NYC 9 years ago (almost to the day); can't even imagine what it's like there now for working musicians. It had already gotten quite lame when I left (not that Hollywood - where I moved to - is any better these days).

Hi Todd, I’ve been missing a lot also. I gave up my quest when I was lucky enough to snag this 2013 R0. My others rarely get played. It’s bone stock, under 8 lbs and I will never do a thing to it. I love it just the way it is. 857F53B7-0B5A-41D2-9598-B31F2B8086FF.jpeg
