• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Hi all, hoping someone can help me. I have the chance to buy a 03 historic with the following serial no. 8-3594. Is anyone able to date the 594 part & relevant specs, Thanks

Production Year then Sequential Production Order.

For Historic Reissues where not a Historic Select (HS8_XXX) or one of the R-prefix (R8_XXX) or Guitar Center G0 serials... then this:

Z_YXXX

Z = Reissue Year e.g. 1959
'_' = often a space; sometimes not, when Run > 3-digits during high-level Production year; also occurred in vintage years. [Sounds like yours is sans space with >3 digits]

Y = Production Year, e.g. 2022, when reused, requires scrutiny to decipher e.g. 2022 v 2012 v 2002.

XXX (or XXXX, Run > 3-digits) = sequential position within Reissue year's 'Run', where Run includes ALL Reissue models for the Reissue year, i.e. Standard, Special, Junior.

I am not sure what you mean by 'run details'. 'Run' refers to the Custom Shop production for the included guitars, sequentially throughout the given year. Gibson does keep ledgers, but to my knowledge the total yearly spec details are not publicly disclosed. You can call Gibson Customer Service with the serial to verify specific spec details an individual guitar by providing the serial number.

83009 is a quilt top R8
that went to Guitar Center
-within this range 29 are LP Juniors
-1 is a korina explorer
-83046, 83047, and 83087 do not exist
