Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!
How does it compare to other Hiwatt amps say a vintage mid 70’s DR103 or DR504?
How’s the build quality? Very interested in picking one of these up but there’s not much info out there on the SAP circuits.
A friend of mine texted me a couple pics of a Les Paul tonight with the following features:
1. Plain top, cherry burst
2. Binding on neck and trapezoid inlays
3. “Custom Shop Edition” on the rear of the headstock
4. “Studio” plate on the headstock
Serial number 82503526
Any help identifying...
So I was recently fortunate enough to find a very lightly used R7. Weight was only 8.5 lbs, completely stock and the custom buckers sound really nice, with some real nice honk in the mids. I've been playing it at home and really digging it, but was on the fence if I was really necessary since...
Found a 2011 57 VOS Goldtop for sale at a shop. After speaking with the sales associate, I learned that they are no longer a Gibson dealer. The Guitar weighs in at 8.28 pounds! It also sustains and blooms like a dream. It is all original, and mostly as new, however it has been hanging for...
Beautiful set of Tom Holmes pickups, with covers, double cream, and unpotted. Gorgeous clean sustain and wonderful blooming overdriven tones. These were taken out of a 2003 Les Paul standard, very long leads. I no longer own a humbucker guitar, so these are available with no wait time. Pick...
Well I got bit by the goldtop LP bug... I found myself surfing the net looking at old pics of Freddy King, Sean Costello, Hubert Sumlin, Muddy Waters, Pat Hare, Muddy Waters, Bob Margolin, etc. I knew I had to have one. I played a friend's used 2007 R4 and the neck was too large and frankly...
So I have a chance at another friend's Les Paul, this time its a Gibsob Historic! I was lucky enough to play this fine thang at a gig back in 2009 and it was a blues machine! I remember it as being pretty throaty sounding, but it's been 5+ years now. It was in mint condition at that point...
So after many years of lusting after one, playing different models, comparing, etc, I finally got my own Gibson LP Standard. I was all set to buy a mid 2011 Gibson LP Traditional that I had found for a reasonable price; but I got a call last night from my old guitar instructor/musical mentor...
So, I've been a long time Tweed guy, and I LOVE my tweeds, right now I use a couple Victorias (DD and Bandmaster) and then a 5E3 clone for smaller / restaurant gigs.
Been recently thinking about getting a BF amp, SF, a copy or a reissue. My guess is that it won't be a real deal BF, because I...
Ok, so I wired up my "bar guitar" last night, its a new Epi 56 Goldtop that I gutted the wiring, pots, and pickups on. Earning money with this $475 prize, and saving for a 54 reissue, oh the waiting...
I have a problem with my bridge pickup volume control. It cuts out at about 6, almost...
Okay so last night at band practice my amp (Vicky Double Deluxe) kept cutting out on me. Like it would lose volume and then come back, happened a lot. Finally at 8:30 I got pissed off and left and went home and opened her up.
Nothing loose inside the amp, and got out a chop stick and pushed...
Okay this guy gets some of the tastiest slide tones I've ever heard, some I even prefer more than (dare I say it)...Duane.:couch
Anyone know anything on his setup? Other than Les Pauls (Gibby and Epiphones), I got no clue what this guy uses.
By the way, if you haven't heard of the North...
Use a Tweed Deluxe or clone as a head to drive a 4x12 cab with Greenbacks or similar type speaker?
I just got to thinking that this, on paper, sounds like a great idea, just wondered how it is in practice?
Thanks,
Jason
