Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!
I think people are passionate, but I think the problem is a clear plan. If Gibson wanted to be successful, cut the whole USA line and amps. They spend more money and time making crap. To those of us who grew up in the 70s and 80s —- we lived through all Gibsons failed attempts to recreate what...
I didn’t think there was anything argumentative with the question at all. Gibson charges a lot of money, their prices are all over the place. Why shouldn’t there be an explanation of what they choose to use and why. Their whole sales model is based on their attention to historical detail. You’d...
Why can’t the guy ask a question? Everyone’s so worried about offending Gibson? Who cares. The same thing happened when I questioned how the dealers were asking whatever they wanted It was like the Wild West. People were defending the dealers because they were all getting their own side deals...

Hello All
This is a long one. Apologies upfront LOL
I joined this site in the very beginning. I found it to be a valuable resource. Most people just started getting computers back then, and it was an interesting time to be able to actually get answers and compare notes. The Gibson custom shop...
Saw them at the Iridium the other night. What a great show. I appreciate Rockabilly, but I don’t go crazy for it. But these guys were so authentic. They didn’t play, they jammed and had Fun. Buzz Campbell was too cool and Lee was playing the upright like a guitar and killed it. See them if you...
I saw Page’s guitar up close. It could easily be the most valuable guitar in the world. And yes even if it wasn’t his, it would be worth its weight in gold for the fact that it’s a burst. But its value is unimaginable because he thought it was that great. Page played a cheap harmony 1260...
Who doesn’t want the experience of playing or owning an original burst? We all do -no doubt!
But I think the question is —- does an original example play, sound and feel hundreds of thousands of dollars better?
And to that I say, no way.
When it’s put in that context, I’d have to say that most...
has anyone used this on a Les Paul neck? Does it stain the pearloid inlays?
I also have a hummingbird. The inlays are continually being referred to as mother of pearl? I’m assuming they are pearloid too?
I want to darken the boards but not destroy the inlays.
Any 1st hand experiences ? Thanks
I just don’t believe with the level of wealth he has had since 1966, that he can’t find a burst as good. So in protest, he won’t play any? LOL.
Another point to make is that in Andy Summers autobiography, Summers said he sold Clapton his own burst for the cream rehearsals to replace the...
Hello All.
I have a 2017 VOS 58 which looks great. Only thing is, gibson didn’t treat the headstock. So the headstock looks too shiny. Has anyone had any ideas on how to dull a headstock without ruining the logo? I basically just want to tone down the shine to match the VOS body. Thanks
