• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

I think the video of EJ trying out a guitar is educational. He's super far away from the amp. I think the amp is some kind of old tweed something-or-other? He's playing a lot of lead lines and not too many chords - at least not big loud crunchy chords. I'm pretty confident that he's trying...

Tone: 1955-58 LP Special Single Cuts vs '53-'55 wraptail Goldtops

Having had each, my experience is that the sound of a '50s Special is very, very different than that of a '50s wrap-tail Les Paul Standard (gold-top). My ears tell me the opposite of what you state in your post above. The all-mahogany guitars get lost in the mix sometimes. Maybe "mushy...

No McLaughlin for me at the moment! But "Meeting of the Spirits" has been discussed. I've done a bit of Billy Cobham in the past: "Stratus" and "Red Baron" are always fun!!

The stereo guitars were intended to be used with stereo amps which had two separate, hence, out of phase, channels. Like a Gibson Stereo amp or nearly any old Fender. One pickup went to one channel, the other to a different channel. Because the amp channels were out of phase, the out of phase...

Yes, the "'Burst Killer" thing doesn't compute with me. Don't get me wrong, my 345 is darn zippy, but to be sure, a close listen should distinguish it from a Les Paul. "The Chicken" is a close to rock as we do! - And I'm using an older (mid '90s) Fender Pro. Jr. with the jazzers. I plug...

It is interesting to know that your 345 has double whites. My 345 has double blacks. While they're hot PAFs, measuring in the low 8Ωs, I wouldn't call mine a 'Burst killer. - Although I had a guitar friend over a few months ago who did proclaim that my 345 was a 'Burst killer ... maybe my...

A very cool 64 SG has come up for sale in the UK

Indeed, mint is mint -- which can also be read as mint = $$! But for anything less than mint, the price drops off considerably. And wow, that '65 SG is just about as mint as mint can be! It's like no one ever played it! (I think $20k is a very fair, if not good, price for it.)

    Wannabe Snatch for cheap...

You said cheap....I do not think you know what this word means... Perhaps, with your reference to Mr. Barnum, you meant "chump?" (There's a sucker born every minute.)

Recommendations for a gigging amp stand

Very nice! Here's mine. It's an early 1959 with the black Varitone ring. All original except the Schallers. I typically play it through an old Mesa Boogie or an older blackface Super Reverb. (Behind it is a 1995 R9.)

Are these for sale in the shop or just for display?

Peter Frampton - The Collection [Gibson TV]

Yeah, I caught that too - but I'll let it slide!

Peter Frampton - The Collection [Gibson TV]

Yes, this was the best one yet! Peter Frampton is an engaging personality and a makes for a great interview! (I could do without the flash edits too.) He has guitars owned by: J.J. Cale J. Hendrix D. (but sounds like J.) Reinhardt CRAZY. He has a red 1959 ES335. WHOA. That's rare!

What shall I pair my Victoria 20112 with ???

I like the 10” idea. A Super Reverb or something of that ilk would be grand. If you want to get freaky, why not try a 15”? A nice old (40w) Fender Vibrasonic or a newer (100w) one would definitely bring a “bigger wider fuller, different sound”! And it definitely would be different! The 15”...
