• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Gibson releases exclusive new 'historic' PAF: 1959 Humbucker Collector’s Edition Series 1

I’m amused/bemused by the use of A4 magnets. I guess the last phenom of A3 is passe and A2/5 is too been there, done that. A thousand bucks.

    Studio Neck Profiles and Years

Thread resurrection. I’m looking at a ’96 and neck size is a question. My ‘91 is .831” and D shaped in general. @1st fret and profile wise, I’d call it medium to thin shouldered. I have an R6,7,8 and 9; profile, it’s nothing like those full C shouldered. I like 50’s C, wish the seller could...

    ABR-1 Issues

Thread resurrection as my R8 ABR1 buzzing on G was driving me nuts. Clear silicone on/in the screw threads of the offending bridge adjustment. Invisible, only takes a tiny dab and easily removable (vs Red or even Blue LocTite). Worked for me -

what was Gibson thinking when they designed the Burstbuckers ?

Im not sure a real deal PAF would sound remarkably different than any my custombucker, ants, burstbuckers, 57 classics, ThroBaks or Mojo 59 Clones sound. Who’s to say? Guitar and electronics dependent, amp, tube and speaker dependent - 100’s of variables. And then which era PAF?? Underwound...

    Are these Shaw’s?

Hi guys, I have an ‘86 Les Paul (SG) Custom, which I guess was a pre Custom Shop, regular production guitar. I’ve had it since about 2000, but could be a year or two earlier. Bought from old college roommate who had trouble playing it. It was a good way to spend $400. LookEd all original...

what was Gibson thinking when they designed the Burstbuckers ?

After several magnets swaps and futzing with pup and pole height adjustments, I’m pretty happy with the BB 1/2 setup I removed from my ‘07 R9. Installed in a 10+# 1991 LP Studio with a newish Emerson Harness. Never was happy with the BB’s in that R9. It has Ants now (but with A4 in the...

    Custombucker Magnet Swaps?

Sorry for the delayed response. YES, UOA5 has been in and remains. I JUST revisited pickup height on that guitar last week. I now have that bridge at 1.6mm on the high e and a tight 2mm on the bass side. The first adjustment was to more or less balance the output to the neck, which was fine...

    A bit of Mick Taylor.

He ran for his life, if you think about it. When with Mayall, he didnt touch reefer. During the Stones he had a heroin habit.
