Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!
ISSUE SOLVED:
Well... you'll never guess what the issue was!
I got fed up with everything and just decided to start fresh like I previously mentioned. Finally got around to completely disabling the guitars electronics this weekend after getting a new set of pots and selector switch. Anyway...
I played them alongside a standard Murphy lab Les Paul, and only noticed a slight difference. I think these two guitars were particularly resonant, but I don't think that's anything to do with this specific model. Cosmetics aside they didn't play better than a standard Murphy lab. The neck...
I couldn't agree more! I have two different Epiphone Casinos (62 & 65) that have Brazilian boards that were made along side the 335s and 330s. Cost less than $5k each when I picked them up in the last few years.
I wouldn't say the pricing bothers me as much as I the struggle to understand any sort of marketing or reasoning from Gibson. I'm not saying it makes sense, but when Bugatti sells you a $2,795,000 Chiron, they don't talk about how great it is a daily driver. They hardly even mention the fact...
I recently posted about Gibson's new $20,000 Brazilian Murphy lab Les Paul. These Humbuckers fit right into the narrative of Gibson, becoming a "luxury brand" as some of you have stated. I never thought I'd see the day when I could got to Gibson and buy myself a new $20,000 Les Paul by pulling...
Yeah, sorry... I have a hard time speaking my mind without doing into detail. I live for the discussion. I guess you didn't need to read everything to get the gist. Title was enough like you said.
Anyways, hope you're still with us! 😇
Forgive me, if there's already been a few threads on this, but can we just talk about the new 1959 Les Paul Standard Reissue Limited Edition Murphy Lab Aged With Brazilian Rosewood… what a mouth full.
Listen, I'm not one to poop on new guitars. And I'm definitely not one to hate on beautiful...
Thanks for the input! I was going to stick with nylon as I had a few extra Nylon nut blanks from Historic makeovers. They seem to be the best I can find for the period correct look and feel. However, as you have recommend, I have gone with bone.
I am in the process of shaping it as we speak and...
I recently purchased a Kalamazoo manufactured Epiphone casino. Dates to 1965 and appears to be all original with the exception of the nut that was replaced at some point. The nut that is currently on it is plastic (I believe) and was poorly done from the beginning, not to mention it has been...
First, yes, please excuse my error of specificity. Kilo ohms and ohms respectively as you mentioned.
To answer your second query, I have measured it in parallel and received the readings listed above readings.
As for the tone capacitor, I took a quick check of the tone control potentiometer...
To answer your first question, yes, I am taking the measurements directly on the lugs/terminals of the pots. When I measured the bridge pick up potentiometer, it has perfect readings. It starts at 7.92 ohms, increases upwards to 135+/- then tapers down to 0.02 ohms. When I take the same readings...
I took the pot out of the guitar. Once removed it tested fine.
I installed a new pot (tested fine out of guitar) and it’s now reading the same as the original pot did.
Before I pull it, reasonable to think this is a pick up issue??
