Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!
yep, another one of those threads...
Yesterday, I was cleaning out the contents of boxes & folders I hadn't touched in 20-30+ years and came across my sales receipt for my first electric guitar & amp - a new '82 tobacco burst Norlin LP Standard and a Peavey Bandit amp purchased at Marguerites...
After having and enjoying my inexpensive '02 LP Jr for 12-13 years as my first p90 experience, I decided a few months back to move up to a Custom Shop SC or DC Jr, or maybe even an ES330. I was also keeping my eyes open for a great deal on a vintage one. I can't say I remember ever bumping into...
Since there have been a few recent pro lesson vids on having a quality vibrato, I've made it a daily practice point for myself. I've watched a few other YT vids which talk about different techniques - seems to break down to about four. Before, my limited vibrato was finger vibrato either across...
I didn't see a place to enter this observation, and I don't wish to have it turn into a complaint thread sort of like one of the threads on the prior upgrade attempt. I thought it could be useful to many if it's user-error, or the mods receiving multiple reports of the same real or imagined...
The negative vibe of another thread got me to thinking about this. After some reflection, I thought of two:
1) the first time I ever played on stage (invited up on stage by a Bozeman, MT bar band to play ZZTop's Gimme All Your Lovin', which I butchered horribly and probably embarassed the band...
I've been playing through a Rockitt Retro '68 spec lead plexi clone & Marshall 1960TV 4x12 cab which I really enjoy, but I wanted a grab & go solution for the occasional jam I go to. I also wanted a JCM circuit for some additional fun. So I had been quietly, casually looking for a 4010, locally...
I keep checking YT for a new episode, but they have been pretty quiet this year. Anybody have any inside info regarding upcoming episodes?

Are the P90'ed, mouse-ear'ed gibsons only the ES330's (and their Epiphone cousins the Casino)? Are there other Gibson hollow/semi-hollow's with p90's, besides the ES330?
About three weeks ago, I made the innocent mistake, out of curiosity, of test driving a tobacco burst(?) 2010(?) ES-330...
At a friend's encouragement, I decided to try a set of pure nickel strings (GHS Burnished Nickels .010 set) on my Wolfetone DrV loaded R7. I've been using D'Addario EXL110 (nickel plated) for a few years. The generalization is that pure nickel strings are 'warmer' than nickel plated strings. I...
So... There is a burst color (in my mind's eye) I've always wanted to own. I've only recently admitted to myself that I'm looking for it. Trouble is... nailing down a name for the color seems to be challenging as I can seemingly find examples, based on web photos, under the names of...

I just watched the latest FrettedAmericana/PhilX video displaying a '59 dubbed 'Minty'. The info is vague on the recent celebrity owner and I was hoping for more of the backstory on such a clean LP.

If I may also add, I like Philx videos; and LP's...
I have a lead on a 2006 '76 reissue Explorer in the Korina appearing finish w/black knobs, rings & pu's; white pickguard; and gold hardware. I'm told the guitar is all original with case, some minor dings & player wear. Asking price is $950.
I've always quietly lusted for a natural finish...

2004 Gibson Les Paul '57 Historic/reissue standard goldtop
Backstory:
Last night, I removed the abr-1 bridge to add a second set of thumbwheels to the bridge posts to stablize the posts which were leaning a bit. Upon putting it all back together with new D'Addario EXL110's (.10-.46)...
I'm currently on a 48 hour approval of a new R7 I got. The leap in great tone from my current LP is astonishing.
I can figure out songs easily enough by sitting down and copping them off of tape or CD, but I have good ear memory as well, so I can play passable renditions of classic rock songs...
I bought an R7 (from a dealer afar) and I have a 48 hour approval window. The more I play it the more I notice how great it is compared to any other LP (besides a historic) I've had the chance to play.
What I love: Woody! Man does this baby impart nice chunk to my amp. Great string...
