• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Congrats, P90s are the best (y) I'd have one of those with a fat neck any day of the week.

    Modded Marshall 1936 2x12's

C'est la vie. When you're at the bottom of the globe that's the way it is.

    Modded Marshall 1936 2x12's

It was 'draught city' prior to then Paul and goes back to WW2(and even prior to that) when import license was the only way to bring imported goods into the country. This was designed to help promote NZ industry/manufacturers of locally made products, boosting the economy as a whole. We had a...

    Modded Marshall 1936 2x12's

It is a great sounding cab the 1936. Well before '84 there was mainly locally produced amps, some put together Boogies, a trickle of Music Man and Fender. NZ started to open up after '84 for imported guitars and amps..........relaxation of import licensing.

    Anyone Recognize The Rola?

As an aside, I use a '54 74 1772 in my 1x12 PR, it's just a great sounding speaker, can take all that I throw at it and now 70 years old, amazing!!

    Help with T-Top

The t-tops I've used over the years were great, A5 magnets from memory. I'd ask $500-$700 each these days. What do you guys reckon?

    Modded Marshall 1936 2x12's

Well..................I put 2 x G12M20s in my 1936, and that'll be it:LOL: Birch construction with a MDF backboard, cut 1/3 out of the middle of it for a part open back. It's an old '84 cab and one of the first shipments of Marshalls ever to come into the country(we started importing the amps...

When you are a dead guitar player

Maybe I'll stipulate in my Will that I be buried with one my fave albums either Sgt Peppers , Gaucho or From The Cradle, who knows, or a fave piece of old sheet music, but not a guitar, the kids can do what they want with those............and the amps

I’ve never really got the whole “vintage burst” thing.. but..

I held the opinion for a long long time, most of my life, that vintage was the be all and end all. However that changed over the last 2 + decades as I got into the vintage gear(guitars and amps) and also played the new Historic offerings from Gibson. It would be nice to own an old LP, 335 etc...

ES 335 - block or figured

Thanks Sombrero, just checked that out myself. It is a slim taper style neck and around .830" at the 1st and say .920" at the 12th which would be way too slim for me. I'm in the 'fat' neck camp most definitely and preferably be at least .920" at the 1st going to 1"+ at the 12th. Memphis made...

ES 335 - block or figured

Cheers Sombrero I didn't know that there were any out there. What a beauty, and the backdrop in the pic, all art deco too(y) Have seen a pelham blue one that pops up from time to time but that's not 'cherry' is it.............. When you say it has a 30/60 neck what does that translate to...

ES 335 - block or figured

When CS bring back the ES 330L I'm going for fat necked block inlay cherry woodgrain finish with mickey mouse ears. I don't like a figured top as such just the woodgrain coming through.

    '58 335 Tribursts

Prices certainly took a hike since 2020 and Murphy Lab added to that with their plussage. Here in NZ the CS ES 335 is now NZ$13k and in '19 it was $8k, the last of the Memphis guitars.
