• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Marshall handwired amps, not in U.S.

I was talking with a Korg rep today at NAMM and he said that because of the rediculous new government fees that the UL wants to slam Korg with, that Korg has decided it is not profitable to import anymore handwired Marshalls into the US; effective 2 days ago.

    Biasing - voltage drop method

I took a couple of pics while biasing a '69 plexi today, for those who are even remotely curious about such trivial blah blah. I use the "voltage drop method" : some call it the "shunt method" but I'm not using a shunt, only DVMs. I use three meters and a calculator, but not to worry - one...

    Fender OT question.

There's been a reply on another forum stating that older Fenders had multiple secondary impedance leads from the output transformers for different speaker loads, and the un-used ones were just tucked away. I have never seen/heard this before, any truth to it? Thanks, Hamilton

    You can thank these guys.

Obviously on the left is the "Father of Loud", but the gentleman on the right is the "Father of JBL MI". Yep, he's the one who was in charge of engineering and also convinced Bill Thomas of JBL to start production on the venerable "F" series JBL Musical Instrument loudspeakers back in the '60s...

    Score.

Just picked up a '70 Bluesbreaker, these came with a standard 50 watt trem chassis. The pic does reveal the true size of this amp, but it is BIG - seven inches wider than a Super Reverb, measuring 32" across the front. I thought AC30s were a pain to carry, well....this is worse. It has "salt &...

    Anaheim NAMM

Saw all the new HW Marshalls today, including the dual OT KT66 100 watter, the 1959 HW, the 20 watt HW and the limited issue Hendrix KT66 tall cab stack. This is also the first time I heard the 18 watter A/Bed (I don't own one). It was pleasing to hear that each amp is quite different in tone...

Just scored a '65 Super Reverb (might not be dial-up friendly)

The original owner had this until his death in 2000. The seller (a friend of his) purchased it from the widow, and now has decided to sell it, $1300. This still has the original matching CTS ceramics.

    Oh no! No amps!

A possibility might come up allowing me to join a great band; that's the good news. The bad news is...they play with no amps. :dead: :dead: Yep, everything is direct. So... I might be in the market for a pedal board and heard that the new Vox Tonelab is the hot ticket, any ideas? Thanks, Hamilton
