• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Value of modded 1977 Les Paul Custom

I have a 76 Custom,,pancake body, essentially mint condition. Even the gold hardware has little wear. I got it in 2020 for around 5k Cdn. Things have gone up since but seems a bit pricey, to me. I have a 57+ Classic to try in it.

    Your Best Concert Ever?

I wonder if a festival day of shows counts... US Festival 83, heavy metal day. Motley Crue, Quiet Riot, Ozzy, Preist, Triumph, Scorps and Van Halen. Hard to pick just one out of all the rest. First couple Triumph shows in 1978 and 79 would be one for sure. Just basic straight ahead rock with...

Why do your nuts go brown after a while? 🤔

I think I recently tried one o those. Love a nut brown ale.

    Gibson x Jimmy Page...

Kaka. That horrifying neck body brick joint makes higher frets impossible to play. It's unwieldy poo. Not much DESIGN difference from the Epi 1275 I had. Poor design. Ibanez Artist doubleneck ala Rik Emmett is a much better guitar design. Then make it 50k??? Cause they only make 50. Not for me.

Buying LP soon, want 60's slim neck but want to put in Mini-Humbuckers, can I get any guitar?

Should be able to but some P90 cavities aren't deep enough. Someone with direct knowledge will chime in.

When you are a dead guitar player

I will be cremated. I did think for years I would be buried with my first guitar my Goya L6-S copy... Spose someone will get them. Never thought that far ahead. As for the post title - When you are a dead guitar player Your playing ability drops off dramatically... 😁

ES 335 - block or figured

I got both but mine is natural. I did look at a highly figured red too but preferred the natural. Not sure why maybe thevred was too much? I like block inlays. Mine Figured cherry red

    Question from a newby!

I bought new cause I just don't care to be bothered. I loved the one I found and it was new. Personally I am not after a 50s Les Paul. I just want a good beautiful instrument to play and I was willing to pay for it.

    Question from a newby!

Hey I paid for it but it's the one!! I absolutely love it. I look at guitars as we only have limited time here, enjoy it while you can! Depends on one's budget as well. Cheers.

    Question from a newby!

Got it. Partly price. I got a TH Wildwood R0 late in 2022. Gorgeous guitar. Expensive tho.

    Question from a newby!

So the R8, regardless of neck, is better than the R9 or R0 somehow? Are they not all made to the same exacting standards? Not everyone likes baseball bat necks so I pointed this out to OP.

    Question from a newby!

You also need to try different necks. I for one like slimmer necks so I like a 60s neck, not a 58 fat neck. You may find another model in there you like too. See if you find the difference between the higher end and medium end LPs worth it.

Crack on finish or body? How bad is this? Epiphone Les Paul ‘56 Goldtop

Seems odd to me. 1 large crack in the "finish" on back but no checking etc on front? I agree looks like a wood crack. I would get a different one if it was me. What year is it? How old?

    '88 L-5 Victim of Pickguard off-gassing

I should edit - the OP guitar is from 1988. Weird.
