Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!
I'm not a huge fan of the shape here.
But I bet if they did a version of the Modern Double Cut they releasesd a few years back at this price point it would do well.
Depends on the day with that guitar. On one hand, it's pretty heavy for a semi-hollow, and I'm not thrilled with the P100s that are stock (I've just never gotten around to doing anything about them)
But on the other hand, it;s got that resonance of a semi, but a bit deeper than a 335, due to the...

I was thinking that the marking inside the sound hole read L-50.
Obviously needs some luthier attention. What's blue book on these guys?
I'm not enough an expert on those models to know the year without other assistance.
I'm not saying Ziff does have it, though it's alleged to be in a collection on the east coast and obviously he's based in New |York and most secretive about his collection. Though |I would think that if |I was him and had already been burned on a previously stolen instrument, even though I'm...
I've heard of people modifying the strap locks to work with the stock screws. |I think that means drilling out the centers of the buttons, at least on the Schaller style, to fit the existing screws.
I think there are some straps with built- in locks. |I had one a long time ago and wasn't really...
I've got P100s in my ES135, I've never really been happy with them. |They do work well for a sort of dark, jazzy feel with a clean amp, but only individually, they don't work well together IMO. |I've just never gotten around to doing anything about them.
Not sure if this really applies to the questions, but since someone mentioned the V-Amp...
I got a Line 6 POD ages back that still holds up as a headphone amp.
Obviously it's not like having a hundred watts of Marshall or Boogie (or 85 watts of Fender Twin) shoving you backwards, but it still...
Like the others said, there's nothing inherent to those guitars that *needs* upgrading - but when you get hold of it and play it for a while you may want to - be it pickups, wiring harness, bridge etc. Don't rush into anything, take time.
I don't have specific plans for spending this year, but i have a few plans on things I'd like to.
I have ideas or plans to build a guitar or two, whether I get to that I don't know.
I also want to build an amp. Trying to decide if I want to do a 5F1 or 5F2A. I like the idea of the tone, but I...
Nice one!!!
|The only way to tell is by pulling them out, seeing if they match what should be there from the factory.
Also check the solder joints on the pots in the control cavity can give a hint if they were replaced or not (not always; a good tech's work will be almost indistinguishaable...
so I got a Klone kit off ebay a ways back, and finally got around to building it.
It seemed to go well - I've had soldering experience, but no pedal building experience, so I don't know exactly what each component does, except in the most broad terms.
So it powered up fine on first shot...
