• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

More relief on the low E side

I typically shoot for a very straight neck. On my LPs I find they always have more relief on the low E side of the neck vs the high E. So I can only set it as straight as the high E allows. This typical?

Hand selected top - Help me choose a finish

Folks, help a brother out. What would you do with this top finish wise? It's going to be an R9, but I remain undecided as far as color. Help me out here.

R9 Murphy Lab Green Lemon Fade Heavy Aged

The verdict is in. It's staying. I went back to try a number of other Les Pauls to make sure I was making the right decision, for me. All extremely high end instruments and special in their own right but not one matched the green lemon fade on sonics, feel, or looks, as far as I am concerned...

    Gibson Les Paul Murphy Lab

That's an interesting question that I also have, actually I find the tops on most ML I've come across to be on the subdued end of the spectrum myself. I wonder what goes into the decision process for this. Would love to get @matkoehler feedback on it.

    Gibson Les Paul Murphy Lab

That is stunning. I just got a similar one and was on the fence with the green but decided to keep it. Great R9. To the OP I’d say it is the best reissue I’ve had, and it’s been quite a few...

Hey it's Mat from Gibson Product Development - AMA

Lets post it again, I am very curious. I personally gravitate to flat sawn showing flame and not grain, but not sure that’s the consensus, and what’s the thought process at Gibson selecting tops. @matkoehler please? Mat - what is the story about the maple I see on maybe 5% of the Historic LP...

R9 Murphy Lab Green Lemon Fade Heavy Aged

I just worry a bit about the resale potential really. I do like it and chances are it's going to stay. Lovely sounding and playing guitar, if a bit unique on the finish. The fretboard is pretty special, as is the flame as far as I am concerned.
