• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Pics Of The Last Guitar You Purchased

Purchased my 64 Jr back (left). It’s super twangy and punchy while the fat necked 63 is dark and brooding (picture to follow)

Do you have a photo of the underside of the pickups? Pots and codes would be useful also.

I still have this '64 III...full size routes. One of my top 10. Cardinal Red refin. We have a feeling the original may have been black.

    Custombuckers vs. vintage T-Tops

This is true… I have a set of vintage Gretsch Supertrons that read 4.5k, but they destroy the front end of every amp. I love them so.

Speaker recommendations for 66 Vox AC50

No, the extra bass is not there in the Blue. The Gold has more whomp for sure. My old Blue is my fav speaker, but all my gigging amps are > 15 watts.

Celestion AlNiCo Golds are great. In my head/ears they are more honky than the blue. The extra bass adds a contrast to the mids and highs that’s not there in the blue. Can’t go wrong though.

Ri Right, I get it, thanks. Put me down as interested in hearing Jon’s objective analysis.

It’s “ThroBak”. And sorry, what is your question/statement? I seem to be missing the context. Jon’s comments highlight his curiosity which has been to date, for all of our benefit.

    Gibson R9 Authentication

The LP Forum doesn't need argumentative grand standing. It has had enough of that over the years, and many members exited as it just went on and on. Let's not go back in time please.

    What pickups are these?

The covers look to be bog standard Gibson. The Decal is possibly a repro, as it's more accurate than say what was on the BB or 57 of the time. If you have BB Pro's (this is an '02), then they should sound fantastic. The Gen 1 BB's are IMO their best modern PAF RI pickup yet. The sticker changed...

And his reference to down under/upside down was a kind nod to yours truly. That one was quite a ride. I think my ‘60 (edit - 335) headstock is in that thread somewhere.
