Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!
I know that Advanced Plating in Nashville had a fire last August - does anybody know if they are still going strong, whether the fire was major or minor?
They are a fantastic plating shop and do a lot of OEM work for Gibson and other guitar builders - highly recommended!
Compiling information posted in another thread. Many thanks to cfh, Fried Okra, J.D., Walter Carter, et al.

I recently had an opportunity to photograph some guitars for a friend and thought this was interesting. The lighter colored Esquire is a 2 owner guitar that was literally played in church and then put away, hence the less butterscotch color. The darker Esquire has been around the block with...

About a month ago I saw a ‘50s Fender on Reverb that caught my eye because it was very light weight: 6.5 pounds. I have been on a ‘lightweight guitar binge’ recently and this one was exceptional because most are over 7 pounds. I decided to make an offer.
The seller was Cowtown Guitars of Las...
Like many people here, I’ve been a big fan of Reverb.com since they appeared on the scene 2-3 years ago. I must look on their site a dozen times a week, and I have bought a couple of things through them.
However there are some ‘rules’ I wasn’t aware of until recently that I thought I would...
Hey Eric E. - hope you and yours are doing alright and not too greatly impacted by the SC flooding.
Best wishes to any and all who might be affected by that Southeast deluge. :salude
How finicky are all of you when it comes to putting a new nut on a vintage Fender?
Of course it has to be installed properly and professionally, but are we as nuts about the proper or next-best-thing when it comes to Fender nuts are we are about our Gibson nuts? (4/6 nylon, 6/6 nylon, etc...
Did Gibson come out with their blond finish TVs and Specials partly in response to the success of Fender's blond Esquires, Broadcasters, and Telecasters?
It sure seems that Fender came out with the Stratocaster in sunburst partly because of the long history of Gibson sunburst finishes.
What do...
I worked with Kip and the fine people at Starr Guitars to build me a '53 Blackguard Tele replica and boy did they ever! The body was built from scratch, the neck was bought and heavily re-worked and modified (including my favorite '56 v-carve), and I supplied most of the parts including the...
