• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Messing around with a '51 Stromberg Carlson tube PA

This is a fun little amp. I used a M108 EQ out front to push it a little and ran it into a Mass 100 set to load then ran the line out through a few pedals before hitting a rack mounted power amp to power the cabs.

It's old and full of tubes....TURN IT UP!

A Plexi modded YBA-1 and a Les Paul......few things in life are more enjoyable than that. Wait....mid century tube PA's a pretty fun too! '47 Masco MA25P, weird loctal preamp tubes, 2 x 6L6 power section and a big ol' 5U4 rectifier....nice Tweed Bassman vibe. Les Pauls and old...

My '71 Traynore YBA-1 has been Plexified

My parts order was delayed a little over a week due to the snow storm backing up USPS shipments but the parts came last week and I couldn’t wait to get into it. I went out in my barn at 5 am Saturday morning to do the mods to my YBA-1. It was 25 deg and I froze my ass off but it was worth it...

    Another cheap, unhip tone monster

As Big Al stated in his thread, we guitar players love to chase our tone through cool vintage and boutique pieces. I've definitely fallen down that rabbit hole myself but I eventually learned that sometimes the simple little right off the rack budget amps have killer tone too. One of my favorite...

'72 Traynor YBA-1 - NAD has never been sweeter

'71 Traynor YBA-1 - NAD has never been sweeter I just picked up a stock '72 YBA-1. I was originally planning to "Plexi" mod it but the more I play through it the more I like it for what it is. I'll order new filter caps for it because it's still running it's original dynamite sticks and some...

    Converted tube PAs

I'm addicted. Clean with a Strat or dishing out the dirt with a Les Paul this '47 Masco has got it all. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w9D7MpHX80E Who else is digging these?

    Didn't like the 50'S wiring

I put a RS kit in my '02 Standard a few months back and just followed the diagram that came with the kit. It sounded much better but seemed a little dark sounding. I recently tried the 50's wiring scheme and found it to be way too bright for my taste. I tried adjusting the pick up and pole piece...

Rte 66 or Jeckyll & Hyde

I have a $100 gift certificate to burn and I want to spend it on a new O.D. I have it narrowed down to these two pedals. I was kind of leaning towards the Rte 66 but I'm not 100% on that yet. I'm plan on using it with my 2002 Standard, an '81 Ibanez Destroyer and my RG520 with split coils. I...
